College radio is the best to get new underground cuts or the internet, popular radio stations are just not pulling there weight like they use to with alot of politics being involved.

radio plays garbage

i dont listen to the radio like that when a song hits the radio thats when i get tired of it, i go to sites like hiphopupdate and youheardthatnew.com

I think in some ways we're a bit luckier on this side of the pond (I'm in Scotland) because not all of the radio stations are commercially owned, so you can occasionally get some half decent music.
But for the most part, I go out and find it. I usually hear about new artists through word of mouth more than anything else.
Sometimes you will hear decent music on the radio, but I think the problem there is that they're scared to take risks - they tend to only play artists they think are going to be huge, which to me is not necessarily a sign of quality.

I go out and find it. If it wasn't for the Internet I wouldn't have heard half of the stuff I've heard. Sometimes I rely on word of mouth, but only if I trust the person's taste in music.

I find most of the current music that i enjoy. I spend hours on the internet discovering new and old hip hop songs.

um.......I find my music.........1. just surfin the net...hip hop blogs, here, artist sites...It's rather tedious....or..2..A lot of time's I'll pick up artists when I listen to Basementalism, or 3. I do word of mouth (but very hit or miss.)

I almost never listen to radio. It's a combination of online sites (Pandora is a biggie), listsofbests.com (they publish critic's "best of" lists and lists from average Joes/Janes, friends' recommendations, and of course checking the "New and Upcoming music" lists on Amazon to look for stuff from bands I already know I like. I also like to occasionally just grab a couple CDs at random from the library that I know nothing about...sometimes I find great music that way.

No way do I rely in the commerical radio! My friend just got me hooked on this website called Podomatic.com
This site has different DJ's that makes mixes that you can upload for FREE!! You don't even have to register on the site to get the mixes. There are some really dope DJs on there from all over the states. I am right now hooked on this DJ called DJ Lee James. He has a dope tribute mix for J.Dilla....and in on way am I promoting the guy. I don't know him, I just came across him. And the site has every genre of music!

I use my friends. I have a wide variety and they listen to alot of different music. They usually put me on. They range from Stack Bundles to The Thermals.

I visit different music sites,
I listen to it... then I download the song.

or sometimes I go here & look for the artists
that people are mentioning.

it's mostly underground hip hop songs.
