Don't know if it was the same survey but it had the top 100 country artist of all times also. The top 5 were
1- Johnny Cash
2-Hank Williams
3-Merle Haggard
4- Patsy Cline
5- Jimmy Rogers
The top 5 songs were;
1-He Stopped Loving Her Today-George Jones
2- Crazy-Patsy Cline
3- Your Cheating Heart-Hank Williams
4- I Fall To Pieces-Patsy Cline
5- El Paso-Marty Robbins
Like I said this may not be the same survey but this is one I saw last week.
Oh "Hey Good Looking" was number 37.
42 but all hank sr songs should make it at least he had #1
EDIT: Good list but I don't think Vince *gag* Gill or Dixie Chicks should be on there
id hope in the top 10
20?
At the time he sang it,our country was right for such a song, for those who don't recall or had not come along yet,you would not understand, the state, social state.I'm sure someone smarter,or older than I can explain.
Anyway The question,I think it should fall within five
top 30? what station was it on and what was song one?
I don't watch TV, but I think "Settin' the Woods on Fire" is his best honky-tonk tune.
I'll say it made the top 10 list maybe 8. It is one of my favorite Hank Sr. songs.
