A serious hip hop question?!

Question: Do you believe that crime in the minority community was less in the golden era of hip hop when it promoted black unity, african pride, and knowledge of self. Compared to the last couple of years, up to todays hip hop generation in which it seems that crime has doubled.

This could be true... but i think it is the music reflecting society at that time, not the other way around.

Crime has decreased, I dont know where u live but here in NY police precints have less crime. it was worse in the 80s

Crime hasnt increased...media coverage of it has...government trying to control the ppl thru fear

Crime wasn't less during the Golden Era, but as Hip Hop/Rap grew, it became more visible through Videos, and the media in some cases tied the music to age old crimes making Rap an easy target. The promotion of Black Unity,African pride and KOS was in full stride right there with the crack cocaine Tsunami, and that wiped out alot of those positive messages along with it, thats why some twenty years later cats are rhyming about how to get money copying those gangsters who was selling crack ,rather than uplifting our comminities using positive measures.

Makaveli right.

Crime was so much more rampant in the 80's. SO MUCH MORE. They kinda had to be positive to get away from everything around them.

Idk whats going on now.
