Insrument help.?!
Question: Anyone know how i can make a clarinet reed taste good? they taste so grossss when you use a new one. i tried coating it with lipgloss but that didn't work lol lol. help please!! and buying flavoreeds is out of the question.

Don't put lip gloss on it. It will ruin the reed. Ignor the person above me and don't soak it in anything besides water. For example, if you soak it in juice or something (I don't know why you would), the sugars will eat away at the reed.
So, to make the reed taste not so bad, just soak it for a long time in water and it should help a little.
let it soak over-nite in Vodka or Rum
ewww, whatever you do, don't put lip gloss on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats like trying to play trumpet with chapstick on. it makes your playing worse. try soaking it in something that you like to drink. so that way you can break it in too. just don't put lip gloss on it, it ruins the reed.
sorry, i do realize soaking it in anything else besides water would be bad. sorry. use water only. but using lip gloss causes the reed to contract, making it harder to play. water will help, break it in AND make that new reed taste go away. don't listen to the other guy about the rum and about me earlier. just use water only. sorry.
