What song has the strongest emotional response for you?!

Question: THE WRECK OF THE EDMUND FITZGERALD by Gordon Lightfoot.

There's also several songs by Willson & McKee but I can't find the individual songs for you but here's some snippets from a concert they did:

The latter starts with one of the songs that always gets to me, THE PATTERN.

EDIT: ok, found SLIP JIGS & REELS for you.

Flogging Molly's- Amazing Grace on the bagpipes. It is amazing and is really strong everytime I listen to it

Baby Mine from the Dumbo soundtrack- cry everytime I THINK about it. Alison Krause also sings it on a Disney CD- boohoo.
AND/OR
Little Buckaroo- country- I don't know who sings it, but I think of my husband and son everytime I hear it.

"I've been loving you too long" by Otis Redding

If you are in love, or have ever been in love, listen to it.

You're Not Alone by Saosin.

it's amazing

Wow, cool question. I will go with a song called 'This Big Hush' by Shriekback. It's beautiful, but seems so dark, and sad at the same time. Whenever I listen to it, I start to think about death ('this big hush infects us all'). It's very powerful even for it's low, monotone sound. You should check it out. (Album: Oil and Gold)

Letting the Cable Sleep by Bush

'Hurt' by Nine inch nails

; I hurt myself today
To see if i still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But i remember everything
What have i become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone i know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
I wear my crown of s**t
On my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stain of time
The feeling disappears
You are someone else
I am still right here
What have i become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone i know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
If i could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

America the Beautiful

Three Doors Down~Here Without You

It came out around the same time I my childhood dog passed away.

the song from the cartoon called 'the prince of egypt'- 'deliver us'... i always start crying at one part... :*(

"dry your eyes" by The Streets.

Its a Brittish rapper, I know thats the definition of cheesy. But if you have ever had a breakup....you'll definitely feel this song.

Goes through just about everything you do at the initial time....great song

Good question.

Hm. I think I have two.

The first is "The Dance" by Garth Brooks. I remember hearing it with my mom when I was younger, and she and I were talking about it. For those who don't know, the main point of the song is "And now, I'm glad I didn't know, the way it all would end, the way it all would go. Our lives, are better left to chance. I could have missed the pain, but I'd have had to miss the dance." I remember my mom relating it to my brother. My brother has Down Syndrome. And having him in our lives hasn't always been easy, and my mom doesn't know if she would have gone through with it or not, had she known he would be born with Downs, but now, she knows that she wouldn't trade him for the world. Having my brother in my life has been one of the most influential things in making me who I am today.

The other one is "Mary Did You Know?" a Christmas song sung by several different people. It's just a question to Mary, asking if she knew, before He was born, who Jesus was going to be? I mean, she knew He was going to be special, but did she realize exactly what He would be doing? "Mary did you know? That you baby boy, has come to make you new? That this child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you?" It gives me chills every time I hear it.

Unforgetable by Natilie Cole with with her late father
You are the sunshine of my life- Stevie Wonder
Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton

Miles Davis's "Spanish Key." in particular, it does its trick fear-wise when Bennie Maupin enters with his bass clarinet solo at the end. simply sends shivers down my spine every time...

Pink- Dear Mr. President

"Dear Mr. President"
(feat. Indigo Girls)

Dear Mr. President,
Come take a walk with me.
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me.
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly.

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street?
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?
What do you feel when you look in the mirror?
Are you proud?

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why?

Dear Mr. President,
Were you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
How can you say
No child is left behind?
We're not dumb and we're not blind.
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell.

What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away?
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine.

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye?

Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh

How do you sleep at night?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Dear Mr. President,
You'd never take a walk with me.
Would you?
