How is MCR emo?!
Question: come on tell me please because its become a tad bit annoying even the band has said they aren't emo. listen to the lyrics they aren't any emo reference's. they even write concept albums which makes it father than emo.
i mean they dont write lyrics like this:

i have no idea,but it's ridiculous.if you listened to 'real' emo music you'd know straight away that MCR is really not emo.
but yeah.whatever genre you want to call them, in my eyes, they're still ace >.<
Emo is only a way of being perceived by people, so even if MCR has said they aren't emo that doesn't necessarily mean that everyone else must be wrong.
MCR sings about death and dress in dark clothes the whole time, so this makes them like many other emos and people who do not like or understand their music call them emo to belittle them. Having said that, their music, emo or not, is brilliant as it has in some way or another actually stopped some people from committing suicide.
I therefore think that people should stop stereotyping people in these ways and just accept that not everyone has the same taste in music among other things, then just move on.

That's the one beautiful thing about labels. Granted they have their flaws but on the plus side is that the bands don't determine what genre they are simply by whining "we're not emo." The music public at large makes the final determination. I'm not going to waste my energy on this any further but The Black Parade is painfully emo as is MCR, case closed.

We've discussed this before - if the band preaches about their views on being indifferent to what others think, they why does it matter what others think? According to their own philosophy, the band doesn't care about the label...so why should the fans?
people are a-holes. simple reason. MCR likes black, they dress kinda emo, they act kinda emo, and if i didn't listen to them, id probably think they were.
but anyone that DOES listen to MCR can tell you they are absolutly not emo. in fact, gee called emo a pile of s**t. listen to famous last words. its pretty much the most un emo song ever.
and dead! is totally part of the concept. it doesn't mean mcr wants to die. its all about the patient and stuff. Notice the sarcastic tone gee sings it in...
What i hate is when people label a band for how they look. but emo is just a trend, and soon enough itll be over and noone will care.
i don't know what made people think mcr is emo but that label needs to die because emo is short for emotion and THERE IS EMOTION IN EVERY SONG!!!!! if there wasn't, why would we listen to music? MCR doesn't sing about killing yourself or anything like that and jakex: that song is metaphorical but i suppose if you weren't so biased you'd have figured that out and RR guy: if you were paying attention, those are not MCR's lyrics, they are from a different band. MCR's music makes you think and is a little dark but its not like about committing suicide so if you wanna say that it is about killing yourself you'd better have a song and song meaning ready to back yourself up.

some people percieve them as emo bcuz they wear darker clothes and have song titles like "Dead!" but ur right, that song was just bcuz the Black Parade CD, its when the patient was dying.
some people say theyre emo bcuz they dont like them or their type of music, but there are some who have listened to a lot of their songs and just have that opinion.
maybe THEY aren't emo, but they are often associated with groups that are, so when people think of them, and think of bands like them, they think of emo

they're considered "emo" cuz they wear eyeliner and black and sing about deeper stuff than sex and things related to sex. But it's just a stupid label that people who don't understand them give to MCR and their fans

i know u find it annoying and offensive but forget about it as long as U have a good concept of what MCR is...
u cant change ppl's minds and u have to accept it so it doesnt affect u anymore, just forget about it and enjoy MCR
