Why do people think rap takes talent?!

Question: I don't think it takes talent to sample other peoples real music and loop it over and over again while jumping around saying "Uh uh ,yeah yeah. While a guy stands there talking (not singing) about things that make no sense.

So then why is it considered talent???

Some people think rap takes talent probably because either: 1) They smoke " funny stuff " or 2) The have No Concept of the fact that real music requires everything which Rap does not have which is: music notes, music melody, music song, music lyrics & often music instrumentation.--- Rap occurs when somebody paces back & forth accross a stage while they shout, scream, & spit words accompanied by insipid noises & sounds into a microphone. The " meaningfull " content of rap involves juvenile half-rhymed stories about gangstas, shootings, drugs, crime, pimps, hoes, gangs , prison & putting down, abusing & degrading women + white people. Actually, much of Rap is bigoted & puts down & degrades many people other than rappers.- Rap takes no talent & it appears that angry bigoted people who don't understand real music probably mistake Rap for music.--Why would anyone think Rappers have any talent when the don't even know how to wear their baseball hats right on their head ? tie the laces on their sneakers ? pull their pants up when they fall down ? - Once Again- Some people apparently don't want to face the truth that Rap is Crap.

lets see you rap and back up your words....

if you don't like it don't listen to it. I have a question - why do you care what kind of music other people listen to? Rap is not my favorite type of music, but I could care less if the next person loves to listen to it. Find a hobby.

It doesn't take talent.
RAP=Retards Atempting Poetry

some people are actually pretty damn talented when it comes to writing, like Eminem, or actually rapping, like Busta Rhymes. have you ever heard him??? crazy...

Because they are on the same developmental level as a first grader.

how does rock take talent all it is is yelling and screaming as loud as you can ahhhhhh !!! screaming into a microphone doesnot reqire talent

Hip Hop has always been about MCing, DJing , Graffiti Art , & Breakdancing , Freestyling

hip hop comes from the heart

rock is nothin but Yelling & screaming Hate messages about how much you hate life

its main conecpts are Death , Destruction , Deppresion and anti-christ and rainig blood and the say things like jesus christ is a pedofile

hip hop is way better than C(rock) of sh*t

R[etards]

O [n]

C [rack]

K [illing people]

=95 % of people that listn to rock 'music" are the most deppresed , malnorished social scum ont earth

and if your not any of the above the other 5% are Anti- Christ
& Devil Worhipers

well so many young kids commit suicide beacusre rock encoroges things like " cut my wrist and slit my throat"

the actully encourage kids to commit suicide be deppresed whorship satan and hate life

your mad cause you know its true rock sucks its the owrst genre of music known to man

the best music is Soul , Blues, Jazz , Hip Hop , R&B

even the lowest quality tecno , reggae , and rap is better than all rock "music"

only some rap is like what your describing but some rap if you look it up is very poetic and it's about their lives. Some of the best rappers were very smart actually, some had college degrees

I see you got William Shatner as your picture, so do you consider William Shatner talented??? Cuz I could easily turn this around and ask you the same damn thing.

EDIT: I'm not talkin about him being a musician, I'm talking about his acting. Because we all know that "it-takes-talent-to speak-broken...and-then-sayeverywordtoge...

Rap is a combination of politics, poetry, and personal perspective. You obviously don't appreciate it fully because you focus on what you hear in the street , you know the annoying noise you hear when you drive by a poor neighborhood. Perhaps you need to live in that poor neighborhood to fully appreciate what people rap about. It takes talent to keep a journal in the journey of the journalist. It takes determination to rise above all the competition and believe in what your opinions amount to. In your case it takes ignorance to stereotype based on what you consider to be noise.

rap is not a talent, its mostly used for club music so people can dance to it. i think (hip hop) is talent, because hip hop doesn't concentrate on the beat it concentrates on the words. me personally, i don't like rap music. hip hop has turned into this junk music that (some) people like, and these so called (rappers) that let the music do the work for them; make thousands of dollars. i don't buy rap CDs, i buy hip hop.

While I am not a fan of rap music, there are a select few who can actually be called musicians. Unfortunately, they do not get played on the popular radio stations. They create true poetry, not "uh, uh, yeah, my spinners, my rims", and the subject matter is often political or has some intellectual significance, not about "cheddar and cheese" or "bling-bling and flossin, etc".
The filth that comes out of the radios and television sets, bars, etc I would liken to the work of a showman, rather than an artist or musician. This is the genre of rap you are referring to - the predominant and most popular one. It's talent, but similar to the talent of a juggler or someone who can hop on a pogo stick for 36 hours straight.

Wait a minute... rapping and hip-hop is all about talent. You have to have talent in order to become a household name in the hip-hop world. Uh Uh and yeah yeah are use as signatures when they are about the hit the mic and tear it up. If you would open up your ears and really listen to what that particular person is saying then you would understand. It wouldn't sound like hoopla to you. Maybe you can't relate to what they went thru or what they did in the past. You judge and stereotype them before you can even hear what they have to say. Everyday people cant just come up with a hook or a verse or just straight spit fire at the drop of a dime. It takes talent. Listen.....

Rap takes talent simply because everybody cant do it.Just because someone is famous at something doesnt make them talented at it either it just means they worked hard.I bet over half the people in the entire music section can rap fluidly and stay on beat and subject.Rapping does take a lot of talent of the mind and very quick thinking for a freestyle.

As far as making beats that is not as easy as it sounds, not anybody can just pick up a beat machine or program and make a hit.Making beat loops can take hours of time and concentration.True many people do use old beats that doesnt mean all do.

I can tell you personally because I am in the industry and a lot of people think it is easy but it is not.You must know what you are doing to rhym and make a beat containing over 16 individual sounds. If you still are not convinced send me an email and I will gladly prove my point .

Rock is to music what William Shatner is to acting.

How could anybody take a William Shatner fan seriously?

"But......wait......... I must......have........forgotten my.........lines" - William Shatner

honestly.......

i know about this, i started rapping making songs and mixtapes, because i thought it was easy, just write some rhymes like, "im that boy yea im so cold,i might kill ya boy cuz its a gun that i hold", lol

but it is not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

writing lyrics that are meaningful and lyrically good takes talent and practice. the part you people all for get is spitting the rhymes! recording them making them something people want to listen to, voice and delivery are the most important things, that is very hard

i've been recording for a few months and we've had countless people try to record with us, these people called their selves rappers, it was just terrible, they couldnt even get through a few lines, that proved to me once and for all it takes TALENT AND MORE IMPORTANTLY PRACTICE

try to record you a song.......see how bad it will be

It takes talent because not everyone can do it and if they could its hard to actually be succsessful at it! Id like to see you get up there and get a crowd hyped with your lyrics. Its not just about speaking words off a piece of paper you know

I guess this question in the present has some significance due to all the trash that has been put on the radio and the tube as of recent. Back in the day (late 90's - early 2000's)rap music was full of talent, also yes it requires talent just as any other music form. but like I said that's the current stuff that seems talentless. There are a few guys still making hip hop and rap worth listening to but for the most part, the talent level has been diminishing.

Why do people think rap takes talent? I use to very sceptical of sampling. When Kanye West came out I thought this is what sampled beats sound like. Speed up, pitched up or down, and looped. As I started to learn about hip hop music production I started to dig into the credits on all the the hip hop cd's I loved most. Most of them was sampled beats but, they didn't sampled and simply looped(something I really don't care for). They dug for records(which can take a long time in itself ).They chopped the sample they liked note by note, added there own synthesis sounds(strings, guitar, french horn, ect.), live instruments (mostly drums and bass), eq, filter, effects, ect. If it wasn't note by note it was usually 2 bars chopped to 8 peices and 4 chopped to 16 peices. With any genre of music you're going to find the bad and the good. The bad is definitely highlighted and showed the most in rap but, it's not the whole. Through the radio, mtv, bet, news, ect. people are shown( for the most part) the worst of rap and judge the culture as one. I shouldn't but do judge the taste of anybody who listens or watched any of the radio and music channels.
I listen to all genres(but, pefer rock and hip hop) of music and find most of the deepest lyrics come from hip hop. In todays society a true hip hop listener really have to filter out alot of the garbage to get a jewel. Record companies have turned hip hop/rap into a ringtone industry so, you are (for the most part) only going to hear and see gimmics. Trash is what use to sell 3 years ago. Now both trash and great hip hop/rap isn't selling but, record companies continue to invest in the trash(because it sells more) . Some rap is considered talent(when it shouldnt) some hip hop should be respected and recognized when it isn't. I consider a hip hop artist to have talent when they are original, diverse, honest, creative, and have a unique flow. Some consider it talent if they can dance to it(nothing else matters). At the end of the day, people need to realize music is going to change, but it is not going to change the world. For the better or worst. There is way more to life than music. Some are so passionate about the music it is all they have. I feel sorry for those who make music their god.

it seems like you don't know what you're talking about.

Rap is NOT about " saying uh, uh, yeah yeah.

Clearly, u only know what you see on tv and hear on the radio.

If you'll listen to Underground & Old School Rap
you'll see the difference..

Some people consider Rap & hip hop as a culture
especially Old School rap where they describes
life in the street.

A lot of people think that Rap is talent coz it

expresses thoughts through rapping/spittting/rhyming

words and making/producing beats...and It's not easy.!
