Classic Country Music Lovers--Which you would pick??!

Question: There have been many songs written and recorded during time of war such as "Soldiers Last letter" by Ernest Tubb and others ,"Hello Vietnam" by Johnny Wright" "I Am Praying For The Day That Peace Will Come" by Hank Williams Sr. "There's A Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere" by Elton Britt. Is there a song that fits or is sung about our country's involvement in the current military operations that is your favorite?

Ballad of Ira Hayes: Mr. Johnny Cash.

American Soldier by Toby Keith

American Soldier by Toby Kieth

You don't hear it a lot even on the Classic station on sunday morning's ....but i LOVE CONWAY AND LORETTA'S VERSION OF"GOD BLESS AMERICA AGAIN"!

Sorry, guys - not a popular answer here, but... Dixie Chicks "Not Ready to Make Nice." Toby Keith's song is awesome and it actually makes me cry, but that line about the boot, though funny, is kind of embarrassing to me.

The Green Beret and The Last Farewell but i don't recall the artists

I have to go with Lee Greenwood's GOD BLESS THE USA...

[CHORUS]
I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me and
I'll gladly stand up next to you
And defend her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt
I love this land
God bless the USA

"Welcome to Hell" by Trace Adkins

Maybe Tracy Lawrence "If I don't make it back"...and Billy Ray Cyrus "Some gave all" those would be my choice.

Letters from Home - John Michael Montgomery

and

American Soldier - Toby Keith

For me, If Youre Reading This by Tim McGraw, I lost a friend who was a soldier right around the time this song came out and so really rung true for me. Also, American Soldier is just a great song that is about the soldiers themselves, and not focused on the war.

American Soldier

There`s A Few Songs That Hits Other then the ones listed throughout the answers

The Stars & Stripes And The Eagle Flies - Aaron Tippin

Also
Where Were You - Alan Jackson
Have You Forgotten - Darryle Worley
Fightin` Side Of Me - Merle Haggard

A Little Good News - Anne Murray
America - Waylon Jennings

American Soldier by Toby Keith.. it kinda goes with wat ur saying

Arlington----Trace Adkins, is a good one.
If you're readin' this----Tim McGraw
American Soldier----Toby Keith

There's alot of 'em, even though ya may hate it just turn on the radio and call up a request for the soldiers off in the war, Something will get played and you'll find alot of new songs out there for our kids that are fighting in the war,,,

Thanks for asking.... and ya'll pray for the boys and girls that off fightin'....They're doin' it for us no matter what we think of the war they're in...
My brother's leaving right after the New Year--- So hears a shout out to him....I'm Proud to be an American!!!

I am going to be laughed out of the country category for this but I do have a favorite "oldie/classic" and although I LOVE this man DEARLY, he is not a country singer. It is a song by Roger Whittaker called "War No More". I should add "I Don't Believe In IF anymore" to that also. Then again, he does have country ties to Chet Atkins so maybe I have been saved...lol

New coutnry, I agree, I do have a fondness for Toby's American Soldier though I don't think it speaks to our current involvement, it does speak to how we feel about it and how it touches our heartstrings. I love the video of him with Trevor Scott, a young man with cancer that Toby had on stage a few years ago for Make A Wish. That will tear at your heartstrings for sure...It makes the hairs on my arms stand up everytime.
