I need help with a bass amp!?!

Question: I've recently started with a new band, and I'm afraid I'll need to be upgrading some of my equipment. I'm looking to find maybe a 500w or more cabinet and head combo for around $900. So far I've been looking at this GK combo

but I was told I'd be much better off buying an Ampeg set, or even just buying an Ampeg cabinet and using the GK head. Please help!

Don't buy something that you haven't played through. I had my heart set on an Ampeg years ago until I played it. Check out some other cabs or combos. I have a Trace Elliot rig that sounds great. So I'm partial to that. If you can, look for some good used equip. SWR makse some good combos. Ampeg is pretty much the standard go to. They do make some good equip. though. Good luck.

Ampeg has been the "go to" bass amp for well over 20 years.

Well, i can say go for the GK. For the cabinet, it's quite ok. It's up to you. Best if you try it out at full volume to see which is better.

Goodluck!

Ampeg or Fender are your best bets.
