"SLOW POKE"-"YOU BELONG TO ME"-"TENNESEE WALTZ"...HE WAS IN GOOD COMPANY..BECOMING FAST FRIENDS WITH "EDDY ARNOLD"-"REDD STEWART"-"COWBOY COPAS"-"AND ERNEST TUBB..HE TOURED A LOT WITH MINNIE PEARL TOO.

"How could you have been waltzin' to the Tennessee Waltz when it hadn't been written yet?" -- Faron Young to Pee Wee King

Pee Wee's brother Gene owned King's Record Shop, the store featured on the cover of Rosanne Cash's album named after the store. Although born in Wisconsin, his home was in Louisville, Kentucky (as was Redd Stewart, his longtime songwriting partner). Pee Wee's biography, "Hell Bent for Music," was written by a Louisville college professor.

BTW, one of Pee Wee's early "Golden West Cowboys" singers was none other than Eddy Arnold, who left Pee Wee's band in '44 to become the legendary performer we've known and enjoyed for over 60 years.

As others have said it would be bad not to be able to listen to "The Tennessee Waltz"
