Guitar vs Bass?!

Question: Which would you choose, and why?

Answers: Which would you choose, and why?

Well, I choose guitar, because I started playing it long before anything else. And for the one who said guitar is harder, I disagree, they're both hard for different reasons. Guitar is just generally a faster instrument. Most bassists have a better grasp on timing and rhythm then guitarists do. You play the piano so in your case that might not be true, but its easier to write lyrics and base songs around a rhythm section then it is to write lyrics and base songs around a solo instrument. On the other hand a guitar can be used for rhythm. I write songs around guitar but creating lyrics is much harder without a basic beat and bass line.

i would choose guitar because i play it and its a bit harder because there r more strings and chords but its worth it.

Guitar unless you're Victor Wooten. Then it's just the same instrument.

Bass because it's of it's beautiful soothing sound!

guitar, kurt cobain played it

I love them both. Guitar stands out more to me. But I love that heavy deep sound of the bass. I guess if I had to choose though it would be a guitar

guitar, its more versatile to me ... definately harder but bass is still very respectable

learn both because that way if you decide to join a band you know that you will have a spot because you can play both of them! it will be very help full!!!

Bass - only 4 (maybe 5) strings vs 6..... and you're playing one at a time. It's easier to hear wrong notes from a guitar.

i like to play both equally but the bass backwards strings (i play left handed)

I play them both
I like them both for different reasons

Guitar, Bass is for those who aren't good enough on guitar to play guitar.

Bass
Even though I play guitar
Everyone, everyone's brother, and everyone's dog plays guitar it seems like.
Bass players are chill...
you know what I mean?

if your a beginner a 4 string bass because its easier to learn and then move on to guitar it will be easier because they are similar

Bass, I love to her someone the can really slam on the bass.

I would choose the guitar. But it all depends on what you plan to do. I sing, so I can play the melody with the guitar. You can take it anywhere and you can sing to it. You can't do that with the bass, and typically the bass needs a good amp to sound good. It requires alot more accessories than a typical acoustic guitar. But if you are playin for a band or something, than the bass is awesome. EVERY band needs a bass. :o)

i play both an i would rather electric..cause with bass it sounds better with other instruments an electric sounds great anyway imagine being realy good at electric or really good at bass which would you prefer..

start off with a guitar, bass is easy after that

a bass is easier to learn.. but its like really rythmic and soulful but a guitar is more versatile you can do more with it
it depend on your goals
song writing, fronting a band

I believe i would choose Bass because other than percussion a good bass player can also add their own beat
and really((((((( crank up the metronome.))))))))

I play bass. Some chicks dig the vibes...I like being able to make the building rattle as opposed to making ears bleed...By the way,you don't always play just one note at a time on a bass....It's called an arpeggio I believe...

Both...

I love shredding style... tried shredding both. Sounded perfect.

I always wanted to play bass. Mom made me learn guitar.
"Bass players are guitar player Want-to-bees?"
"They play bass because they suck at guitar?"
BULL! I played guitar for 35 years. I play bass now and love bass. It is my blood.

Bass players are bass players because the world needs bass players.

We drive the band, hold down the grove, lock in the swing, and roll with the drummer. The drums and bass make or break the band.

Anyone can play a guitar and jump around like Pete Townsend. No one can groove like Joco, Flea, Victor, Chris, Mark, and all those other bass players that can smoke check a guitar any day.

Bass players are not good enough? Crap, Let's see mr. guitar dude flow like butter and carry the song while standing in the shadows so the singer and the lead guitar can take all the lime light. A good bass player will carry a band to stardom.

Look at Gene simmons! Geddy Lee! Les Claypool! Markus Miller! Larry Graham! James Jamerson!

Bass because on guitar, wow-zing people isn't as hard, you have to actually have some skill to play a bass. It is one of the hardest things to pull off a chord on bass too.
Another reason is because it has a nicer sound, and you don't need a petal to sound amazing.

bass, because pete wentz plays it ; ]
haha
