The second movement of Beethoven's Sonata Pathetique.
No. 8 in c mineur, op. 13
It's composed in 1798 and has 3 movements.
A roaring Allegro di molto e con Brio. Very fast and wild with a rather heavy 'Grave' Introduction.
This movement in Ab Major and the last movement,
Rondo.
The beginning sounds like "Somewhere Out There" from the movie "An American Tale"
I think Music Ed 29 and Crazy Dave are talking about the same composition.
I agree with Crazy Dave that there is a resemblance between the two.
The first time I heard "Somewhere Out There," it reminded me of the slow movement from the Pathetique Sonata.
I wondered if there was conscious plagiarism involved.
Someone else has noted the resemblance:

Beethoven wrote the Pathetique Sonata in 1798 and "The American Tale" was released in 1987.
I think if either party deserves the credit, it's Beethoven.
music_ed said it. It's the second movement of Beethoven's 8th sonata
