Public Enemy still the Best??!

Question: ~I've been listening to PE for years and years, saw them in concert twice (here in Eire).
My Q: Are they still respected as one of the Best Rap outfits ever? I'd like to know what country you're from to see how popular they are still

I live in the United States. Are they still respected as one of the best rap groups ever? The answer is...for the most part YES!!

Most true HipHop fans respect PE as one of the all time greats, whether that individual liked them or not. But sadly, most young rap fans today don't know who Public Enemy is, even if they know who Flavor Flav is. That's not the fault of Pubic Enemy, it is how it is.

Public Enemy is still as good as anyone out there today. Their new album, "How To Sell Soul To A Soulless People Who Sold Their Soul" is a great album and worth checking out. They've also had numerous releases in recent years that are very good as well. "New Whirl Odor" "Rebirth of a Nation" and "Beats and Places." They aren't popular any more because..

A. the group took a step back on their own.
B. They aren't "gangsta"
C. They get very little if any mainstream coverage.

But that doesn't mean they aren't any good and their live show is still the best out there today. As for Flavor Flav, a person ahead of me is wrong about why Flav got those shows. He got those shows because people are drawn to him and watch them because of him, not Brigette Neilson. Regardless, those shows have nothing to do with Public Enemy.

no they are not

They had their moments of greatness....but are nothign more than a nostalgic throwback nowadays. -USA

I'm from the US...unfortunately they've fallen off here dramatically. They are still respected but haven't achieved any commercial success as of late. Their 2nd and 3rd albums are as good as any ever.

No they are the worst. They should so old they should change their name from Public Enemy to Public Enema.

REBOP why do you always push your ignorant bullshit conclusions about a genre of music you don't know a goddamn thing about, you are the biggest attention-starved Ann Coulter wannabe piece of sh*t on this whole f*cking website. your NOT Bill O'Reilly. No one wants to hear your cliche genre defamations or your sh*t talking.

Well I Never Really Got into PE so there's not much i can really say hopefully there music will grow on me in the future

i still respect them for there legacy and as hip hop legends

I used to like them, but its true they have fallen off. Flav only got a show bc Brigette paid for it on VH1! Not that that matters but that is how he got back into the limelight.

Flav was the best hype man of all time IMO! But we do need more good hip artists like them. Ones who arent afraid to take chances and speak their mind!

ESCOBAR... ten thumbs up!!! You should get best answer!!!!

their album from this year is mega hot...no kidding..I'ts thier best work since Millions...

I'm in Toronto. If PE we're to come here in concert they would attract a few thousand fans. Maybe not enough to sell out the Rogers Centre but maybe a smaller venue of 10,000.
For me I still listen to their first three drops Yo Bum Rush the Show, It Takes a Nation of Millions and Fear of a Black Planet from time to time.
For hip hop fans who started listening in the 80's PE would be on a majority of people's top 10 list so yes I'd say they are still respected as one of the best of all time.
