Question: A guy by the name of GEORGE D. HAY..BORN IN 1895!
I know this because of my days at the OPRY..there's a PLAQUE on the wall there and a HUGE BOOK with his story in it..he came up with this Idea after attending a MOUNTAIN HOEDOWN in the OZARKS while on assignment in WW1..
it kinda started on WLS RADIO IN CHICAGO in 1924..calling it THE NATIONAL BARN DANCE..this sucess led to the position of DIRECTOR of WSM RADIO in NASHVILLE..the first broadcast was 1925..THE BARN DANCE OFFICIALLY BECAME THE GRAND OLE OPRY IN 1927..he was INDUCTED into the HALL OF FAME IN 1966, HE DIED IN 1968.

Now my question is why is Hank Sr. not a part of the Opry?? I've about him not being a member, but have never know why.
