Where do some of these rapper names come from?!

Question: I don't want to put down rap/hip-hop, but I just have a question about some of these rapper/hip-hop artist names. Just where do they come from? Young Jeezy? What's a "Jeezy"? What's a "Diddy"? I can understand "Lil' Mama" and "LL Cool J" but where do these names come from? I even hear them in nicknames; "Sareezy", etc...?

(I really am curious and not trying to insult so please be polite with your answers)

As for young Jeezy, I can't help you. P. Diddy was the name given to Puff Daddy by the late great Biggie Smalls. Chamillionaire is a combonation of 2 words, Chameleon and Millionaire (say his name out loud now). Beenie segal is a name that represents where he is from (25th and Segal St. in Philly). Some names are common sense like Lil Mama, Soulja Boy, and Scarface. Others you would have to do some research to know how they chose their names. But most names have a meaning.

it just hits ya like a cane

same as making up any other money making advancement. I had to make up a name for a new corporation and I came up with California Capital Ventures.

:P

My rapper name would be ...hmmm let me get back to you in a day or two.. ;DD

Im just taking a guess at this but i think
Diddy means daddy
i think Chamillionare is champ and millionare put together maybe..IDK..lol...im prolly wrong..

hmm...i think some of them get their nicknames as kids or when they were younger or something
like T.I. 's original nickname was T.I.P from what his family called him: Tip & bow wow was given his name by snoop dogg and dr dre when he was younger

Chamillionaire means he can he rap fast, he can rap slow, he sings the hook. He got the whole package so basically he can change his styles like the way the animal Chameleon/lizard changes colors. millionaire in his name obviously means money which means he's rich.

you know tupac got hiz name from an anceint king from egypt
my teacher said most rappers get their name from history

Chamillionaire: based off of Chamillion (he mimicks many flows) and millionaire (wanted to be rich)
Ice-T: based off of Iceberg Slim (famous Pimp)
Young Jeezy: was Lil' J idk lot bout him (he nicknamed the snowman)
Diddy: was Puff Daddy based on Puff the Dragon, which changed to P. Diddy instead of P(uff) Daddy, to just Diddy.

alright the answer to your question is alot easier than it looks most rapper names are nothing more that street nicknames . names like jeezy aren't nothin more than snoop-ebonics diddy on the other hand was sean puffy colmbs tryin to keep pwith times. anyways it sounds a little more upscale than puff daddy

I presume that they are supposed to represent street slang, but I truly think they sound more like the names little kids call each other during recess in kindergarten - I mean.....c'mon.....Does anone really think " Snoop Dogg " does not sound like a juvenile name ? I think " Weezy " sounds like the names of the 7 Dwarfs: Doc.....Dopey... Sleepy ....Sneezy .....They all sound like rapper names. Snoop Dogg sounds like a character in " Peanuts " or an animal that should be neutered , put on a leash & taken for a walk. Isn't " Eminem " a candy ?
