Answers: I know the whole album backwards and forwards every guitar lick and lyric but i dont get the whole message of the album is there one?

Basically, "The Dark Side of the Moon" represents insanity...and each song describes one of the ways modern life can drive a person insane, whether through materialism ("Money"), fear of mortality ("Time," "The Great Gig in the Sky"), the generation gap ("Us and Them"), fear itself ("On the Run"), drug abuse ("Any Colour You Like/Brain Damage"), etc. The final song, "Eclipse," basically concludes that EVERYTHING about modern life is insanity-inducing..."All that you touch, all that you see, all that you taste, all you feel," etc.

I don't think there is a message other than "Enjoy".

The way I interpreted it was it's life itself, every experience that we have, it's all under the sun. And the conclusion of Eclipse was "everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon." It's about the common life experiences that all of us go though, greed (Money), fear of death (Time), insanity 9Brain Damage) and all of this is tied together by the fact that we're alive. It's all of life's experiences stuff into one album in a sort of chaotic way as a ode to life. Life isn't exactly streamline and perfect, so you have an album that puts all this together but it's not as clear as a concept album as The Wall.

Honestly, this is just my interpretation. I can be very off.

errrrrrrrrr....... are you getting all your medications right?

dude, you search for something that is not there ...... or maybe you SEE something there that is bound to be found? maybe you should go to the producers family tree, track it back to middle-age, I'm pretty sure the meaning is there

same thing happen to me with last Hanna Montana video LOL!!!!

Everyone interprets everything in a completely different way, especially the arts. That's one of the many beauties of mankind.
Whatever personal meaning works for you, is the meaning behind Dark Side of the Moon.
One thing though, if you haven't already, listen to it high. Seriously, you will ejaculate rainbows.

I think sarah c has the concept right, but I don't think there's really a message in it. It just talks about life and human nature.

Don't look for the meaning of that album. Just be thankful such an awesome example of musical art exsists. As far as I am concerned, Pink Floyd will go down in history as one of the best bands ever. I've seen Roger Waters twice, David Gilmour & Rick Wright once, & the Australian Pink Floyd (Aussie Floyd) tribute band twice. It's always a pleasure to hear and see someone perform Floyd live. I will shed tears everytime in the future as they pass away. Especially David.

Switters' answer was quite good. If it were my question I'd give him the 10 points.
