Ok firstly, you need to have confidence in your voice. Try singing to a single person, like your music teacher, or recording your voice to listen too. Then you will hear how good you are and will believe in yourself more.

Also, try to sing a lot more, in the shower, when your making something to eat etc etc... This helps me to asscioate singing with doing things which don't make me nervous!

Also, I've sang about 20 solos these last couple of years. A few in front of an audience of 2000 people, and a few in front of an audience of 30 people. I was far more nervous (and shaking in one) in the smaller audience, because I knew most of them, and they were extreamly close.

With the self confidence, on the day make an effort with yourself, as you tend to feel better if you know you've put in a big effort. With the singing, if you've been asked to sing, chances are you're pretty amazing! Bullies don't bully amazing people (unless their jealous - which is just sad)

The only way to gain confidence is to practise. If you can sing in front of your friends, without getting shy or without shaking, then you can sing in front of anyone.

Hope that helps! >.< and good luck with the solo!

blow up a balloon it helps your lungs get stronger

hey...i kno exactly what ur goin through. if u really like what u do then pursue it. dont let others get u down cause then u'll stay there. give it ur all and go hard. as 4 da bullies screw dem people thought i was sweet untill i stopped worryin bout dem. get pass em and u'll be fine. live for the stage and the mike.
p.s. i want a copy of the performance maybe we can do a colaboration. :-)

go for the gold! singing is a way to connect with people you usually wouldnt talk to, it puts you in a whole new view. i cant really give you good advice on the bullies, i mean i could tell you to think you're better than them or just ignore them or whatever but that's almost impossible and im sorry i cant help you with that. but the singing part is easy, practise, prepare yourself physically and mentally for your solo, and let it rip! and remeber Music is a language only the soul can understand.

Well, shame on them for bullying you! Remember to always ITF- ignore the fools!

Anyway, find a song that you really like. There's no way you'll be confident if you're shy and you're singing something that you absolutely loathe. Then, work on your stage presence. You don't have to smile big and cheesy or anything, but look pleasant, like you're happy you're there. Don't look at your shoes when you're on stage. Instead, find something shiny and/or interesting on the back wall to stare at.

Also, keep your hands busy with something. These critters, while in control off the stage, turn into raging beasts onstage and will fight with each other, burrow into your pockets, lock themselves together behind your back, and do other things you DON'T want them to do. If you're singing something from a musical, get a prop relevant to that musical or do a dance. If you play guitar or piano or something, then play that onstage to accompany yourself.

Don't take any junk from those bullies. They won't be laughing when you're a famous singer with millions of dollars. =]
