Question: Who do you think was the best/greatest rock guitar player between Jimmie Page, Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Angus Young, The Edge, Steve Lukather, and Stevei Ray Vaughn to name a few?
I know this has been debated for years but who do you think is the greatest? Also, where do you think Slash from Guns N Roses rates compared to the greats?

Jimi Hendrix-If not for him,we wouldn't have the guitarists we have today.
Eddie Van Halen-1st to make finger tapping a mainstay.
Les Paul-The innovator of the guitar.
Randy Rhoads-Trying to turn classical music into rock with his innovative solos.
Randy Rhoads and Jimmy Page are the best, hands down
we will never know, like they say someone is always better than the best.
Jimi Hendrix. Innovative, great songwriter, had a big impact on guitarists and musicians alike, had pretty much a perfect discography (for studio albums), and was very influential. Then again, I'm being somewhat subjective, so there really isn't much of a definite answer.
As for Slash, he's not among the greatest. I guess you can call him great, but if I were to rank him among the greatest rock guitarists, I'd place him among the Top 100, but low on that list.

And Slash, he's good. But I like Tom Morello better, if you want to talk about comparing to the greats. He's a newbie(RATM first album was in 1992), and he has his own style, he doesn't sound like ANYONE ELSE!

well Page,and I think Clapton was kinda sorta decent too.
Because no one thinks alike i think everyone has their own opinions on the greatest guitar player. You can't say that person is the best because there's someone else disagreeing with you or saying this other person is better.
