Callas...:)?!
Question: I was wondering about the best songs you think Maria Callas sang. She is one of my favorite people ever! I love her so much and i was just wondering what everyone else liked about her and from her. Leave some names of songs...i'm sure i havent heard nearly enuff or all.....!!pleez and thanks!

I love her too! She's one of my favourite sopranos. She had a phenomenal voice.
- Her "O mio babbino caro" (the black-and-white version on youtube)
- She was an amazing Tosca in Puccini's opera "Tosca". Just listen to her sing "Vissi d'arte" in the 1964 Covent Garden production...made me cry.
*Edit: how can anyone get a thumbs-down for listing his/her favourite songs by Callas? Yes her voice wasn't what it used to be before she lost all that weight, but there's still beauty in it. (Not to mention she could still sing in tune...ahem). Many say that the 1964 Tosca was her best performance of the role, and IMO, it makes sense.
When her recording of Carmen came out, one reviewer said, "Callas is Carmen." Another reviewer said, "Carmen is Callas." Another reviewer said, "Carmen is the Callas of our century."
I am not the Callas fan that so many other opera lovers are except for recordings before 1953 or 1954 when her voice was in shape and she could still sing in tune AND with all that passion ... I have an incredible Norma (Gala label) from that period and a phenomenal Ballo en Machera (Opera D'Oro label) and I believe there is also a recital from that time period and a La Vestale by Spontini
