What violin music is good to play at a Chistmas party?!


Question: I need to play at a neighbour's party on ther 8th of December. I now play bruch violin concerto which is one of the pieces that I will play. Please don't tell me to play Winter or any easy pieces.

Maybe some Bach suites? I'm assuming if you are playing the Bruch that you have an accompanist on hand? Maybe you could do some Kreisler showpieces? I know some of them might be a little bit easier...but they are always good for gigs,; they are light and usually well received. Also, maybe the Bartok Romanian Folk Dances? I know they aren't very "happy" like christmas music (but neither is the Bruch) and at least they are somewhat light and "folky" and many people know them. Probably any Beethoven or Mozart sonatas could be appropriate since it seems you are playing serious classical.

mozart, and beethoven might be good too. If you want, handel is nice too. Although that has many other instruments besides violin in it. Hope I helped.

It really depends on your audience. Do they know and appreciate classical music ? Or is their idea of classical music "Frank Sinatra" ?
Different audiences require different repertoire.
