Do so many people dislike MCR because they've become big?!
Question: I like MCR (I prefer their older stuff) but it seems like so many people dislike them. Now while they didn't save my life, they did open me up to music. I just can't understand why so many people don't like them. Have you even heard their whole album?

it's definitely because their popular.
when bullets and three cheers were out, nobody hated them because they weren't popular.
but then the black parade came out and opened the door for a bunch of pre-teen fanatics, so now people hate them.
i mean, just look at the facts. they have only been hated since they've become popular.
i own all three of their records, prefer their older stuff, but i love it all.
speaking of which, i'm listening to "prison" live from the life on the murder scene CD. FANTASTIC
i ignore the haters, because i'm my own person, and don't hate what people tell me to hate.
and i love it when people say the fans are annoying and fanatical when they supposedly say "all mcr haters should die."
1-i have never ever heard anyone say that.
2-i have heard people saying "all mcr fans should die" or "all emos should die" it's pathetic. so stop being a hypocrite.
and i agree with the person who said they are hated now that popular kids listen to mcr. that's a MAJOR reason they're hated. people feel like they're not special anymore if popular kids relate to their music.
and they think the music must suck since apparently all popular kids are stupid???
but i don't care, i don't let any one influence what i think, and i don't conform to one belief because someone says i should. like all the people on here.

I love this question. My Chemical Romance has been my favorite band for a long time, before they became big. I still love them but I hate that people like them only because they've come out with some great singles. If those posers would actually listen to the whole album, they would change their views about MCR in a heartbeat, because it's all about death and darkness, but there is an underlying message to every song. I got booted out of a gameroom online just because I like My Chemical Romance. That's crazy. I've noticed that a lot of people dislike them, but they know nothing about them. I don't get it either. Maybe they're just jealous or they think that too many people are conforming to the same artist. That's kind of what I'm thinking. I'm mad that people are posing and conforming to them, but I'm not taking it out on the band like so many people are. It's just stupid and there's no logical reasoning behind it.

Yes, unfortunately, I have heard their whole album.
I don't like them cause I think they sound bad to me and are not to my tatse. Everyone has opinions on music and they're given a right to their own taste, but they also have to many fanatical fans that run around yelling "Anyone who doesn't like MCR should die!!!!" and that could be a turnoff.
i love there old stuff (like i brought u my bullets...) but, i dont like their new album as much and yes, i have heard the whole album, its not bad, just...no as good as their old stuff and live shows!!!
PLUS when mr.way bleached his hair and cut it, when i saw it in a music vid i almost cried!!! hahahaha

Not the reason I don't like them, but that's probably it with others, like my friend.
So here's what happened.
This one girl at our school was obssessing over MCR and advertising them to everyone. I already knew about them, but my friend didn't. So when he went home, he looked them up to see what the big deal was. He heard them, and decided that they were a worthless boy-band that needs fangirls to function. Fall Out Boy used to be first on his "worthless and pathetic artists" list, but guess who's first now? Any band on his list was advertised to him.
Simply because they suck...

well its not because mcr got popular, its just that you know the more "popular" people started to listen to it so then it makes us feel like they've ruined it. cuz' its just like "omg mcr is like the best like band in the like world." you know what i mean? i personally don't like them because they were good untill the got to "copying"
It's because they get rubbed in peoples faces around here. I understand music related questions referencing My Chemical Romance once in a while, but the ones regarding how attractive the frontman (Gerard Way) is, or how he or any other band member is married, or any other gossip type question belongs in the celebrities section. Not in rock, despite the fact that they sing rock music, it's not really about the music. It frustrates people and they take it out on the band, in addition to the fans.
I swear sometimes you can hear that mass of screaming girls through the computer sometimes.
