Guns n' roses, they should make a cover album!!?!

Question: I think it would be so great if Guns n' Roses would record a CD with some great classic songs of other bands. I am certain it would be a tremendous success and great fun for us and them. My suggestions

Deep Purple- Burn
Led Zeppelin- Stairway to heaven
Uriah Heep-Lady in black
The Rolling Stones-Gimme shelter
The Beatles-Hey Jude
Dire Straits-Sultans of Swing
The Doors-L.A Woman
Steppenwolf-Born to be wild

any suggestions? What songs would you include? I hope their producer reads this.....

Deep Purple- Burn. Definitely would be a good one to cover! I'd also like to hear Axl's take on Stormbringer.

Led Zeppelin- Stairway to heaven. This is a tough one to cover, IMHO. I've found most versions (besides the original) to be disappointing. GnR might to it justice, but me, I'd rather hear them do Misty Mountain Hop or The Lemon Song.

Uriah Heep-Lady in black. Wow, I have thought about this one in YEARS! Great pick, definitely. I'd also think Sweet Lorraine off of The Magician's Birthday would be a keeper.

The Rolling Stones-Gimme shelter. Not bad at all, though I think Axl's bad boy reputation makes him better suited to covering Sympathy for the Devil. :)

The Beatles-Hey Jude. Hmm... this isn't one of my favorite Beatles' songs, so I can't really comment.

Dire Straits-Sultans of Swing. You know...the more I think about this one...the more it makes sense. Interesting catch.

The Doors-L.A Woman. Not being that much of a Doors fan, I can't really say one way or the other here.

Steppenwolf-Born to be wild. Yep.

A few I'd add:

Sugarloaf-Green Eyed Lady.

The James Gang - Funk #49.

Pink Floyd - The Gold, it's in the...

That would be a great idea. Unfortunately that's not likely to ever happen since they can't even seem to get Chinese Democracy out.

they can't agree on anything, chinese domacracy is proof, we will all be collecting social security befor that one comes to fruition

i dont think so. i like guns 'n roses's sound. cover album = "i cant think of any more songs"

They already did a cover album, and several cover songs on their other albums. In fact, of all the bands I can think of, they have what I believe is the largest percentage of covers on their own "greatest hits" collection. The covers aren't even all that good, anyway, and this was before Axl kicked everyone with talent out. The current incarnation would absolutely butcher any song they attempted.

for sure!!

totally agree!

rock on

they have already done a cover cd..it is called the spaghetti incident.

1. "Since I Don't Have You" (originally performed by The Skyliners) – 4:19
2. "New Rose" (originally performed by The Damned) – 2:38
3. "Down on the Farm" (originally performed by UK Subs) – 3:28
4. "Human Being" (originally performed by The New York Dolls) – 6:48
5. "Raw Power" (originally performed by The Stooges) – 3:11
6. "Ain't It Fun" (originally performed by The Dead Boys) – 5:02
7. "Buick Makane/Big Dumb Sex" ("Buick Makane" originally performed by T. Rex, "Big Dumb Sex" originally performed by Soundgarden) – 2:39
8. "Hair of the Dog" (originally performed by Nazareth) – 3:54
9. "Attitude" (originally performed by The Misfits) – 1:27
10. "Black Leather" (originally performed by The Professionals) – 4:08
11. "You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory" (originally performed by Johnny Thunders) – 3:35
12. "I Don't Care About You" (originally by Fear) – 2:17
13. "Look at Your Game, Girl" (hidden track, originally by Charles Manson) – 2:34
you cannot buy the original new since they have since removed the last song

If anything Axl should get his creativity back and start making songs again instead of covering. But if covering is what he has to do to get in the highlights again then fine... because he's embarrassing himself and I wanna hear something new.

They did. The Spaghetti Incident is it's title. Guns N' Roses is my favorite band, but I think they're done for. I don't think GNR will even release Chinese Democracy and if they do, it won't be much good, I've had a bootleg for a couple of years now and the tracks suck.

Wasn't "The Spaghetti Incident" by G&R an album of all covers?
If they did another My suggestion would be
We Will Rock You by Queen
Riders On The Storm by The Doors
Street Fighting Man by The Stones
Highway Star by Deep Purple
The Pusher by Steppenwolf
(Can't You imagine Axl shrieking "******* the pusher-man")
White Wedding by Billy Idol
I Am The Walrus by The Beatles

Just for starters

Did music really come to such a stand still that bands have to recycle old hit songs instead of creating new ones?

When the first couple bands created cover albums I thought it was new and different, but now EVERY band is trying this and it's wearing out its welcome.
