Question: I sometimes feel the other people who didn't even have an ounce of talent compared to Grandmaster Flash is getting the whole credit like 50, or worse Hurricane Chris...

and for those youngsters or those ignorant on the hiphop legend, this is a vid of The Message on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3kRuJhIV...

One of the best hip-hop songs ever made if not the best. Pure Classic.

And I think that a lot of old school artist aren't getting the recognition they deserve. The other day I heard someone ask Who is KRS-One? And then they said Well I haven't heard of him so he must be wack. I'm just thinking like wow. Now I could almost understand a little bit of him not knowing if he was my age. But he was 26. He should know. That's ridiculous.

there are plenty of those hip hop artists from the old school that built the game, they made rap what it is today, the "youngstars" are the ones who have lost what it is really about. thankfully there are parts in awards shows that honor legends and even feature performances, but it still isn't enough, but hey, time goes on.

Big Props 2 him and furious 5... nowadays people dont even really give credit to Rakim Slick Rick..etc. the oldest most people compare rappers to now is Biggie and Tupac

To be fair, Grandmaster Flash didn't write, or even rap on The Message - it was Melle Mel who did the rapping. Grandmaster Flash didn't even want his name associated with the song because he felt it wasn't what he was about.
It's still an amazing song though - although I prefer The Roof Is On Fire.
I agree with you that the classic hip hop artists aren't getting the respect they deserve, especially when you look at the state of hip hop today.
I mean, you've got Nelly beefing with KRS-One for the love of God! That little pissant should be down on his knees worshipping the ground KRS-One walks on.
I get so fed up of hearing that 50 Cent is amazing - he's the Britney Spears of rap!
How many people under 20 who call themselves hip hop fans understand the significance of DJ Kool Herc? Not many, I'm guessing.
And what about MC Lyte - without her, there'd be no female rappers today.
Afrika Bambaata, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane? Legends, every one of them.
I couldn't care less about record sales, hip hop is a movement that means more than money.
If you haven't already, check out KRS-One and Marley Marl: Hip Hop Lives (I Come Back). It says it all.
