"Country Bumpkin" was one of my favorite songs!

Cal Smith was originally on Kapp Records. That's where he recorded "Drinking Champagne" (long before George Strait had a hit with it). While I think most of his best work was in Kapp, he certainly had some great songs on Decca/MCA (where most of his success happened). Most notably: "The Lord Knows I'm Drinking," which was written by Bill Anderson, and "Bleep You," written by "He Stopped Loving Her Today" author Bobby Braddock.

I'm sure he's probably had more than his fair share of people coming up to him and asking him to sing "Loose Talk" or "Let Old Mother Nature Have Her Way."

"Country Bumpkin" is an excellent song.

One of my favorites who's song "Country Bumpkin" ended up as my "CB" handle.

Yes I have one of his albums and I love every song on it.
