Classic Country Music Fans--Who got shortchanged??!
Question: In this world of so many great classic country music artists I would like to know what artist you feel got the short end of the stick and should have gotten more recognition than they did. I personally think Wynn Stewart got short changed in a big way. I always wondered why he didn't get more recognition as he was also a big name in the Bakersfield sound.

I don't know if you've noticed, but I mention his name on here every chance I get. The Challenge Masters cd hasn't left my car for years-I can listen to it over and over.

Wynn Stewart's one for sure. Ray Pillow's another one and so is Jack Greene. They're not given near enough credit for their accomplishments. On the ladies' side, I'd say Wanda Jackson should have gone much farther than she did.
Notice they're, for the most part, Capitol artists? I'd think Capitol did a poor job of promoting its country fare in the '60s, and that makes them partly to blame.

Johnny Bush - Great song write and performer. Been around for ages. and yet never made the big time.
Darrell McCall - Also has been unsuccessful at achieving his goal at making it big in the industry. He and fellow compadre Johnny Paycheck once tried recording some material only to fail. His voice could be heard on some of the best entertainers records as backup vocals like George Jones,Faron Young and even Ray Price.
