Please.........please don't get me started on THIS topic.
- They suck because they perpetuate ridiculous stereotypes of people of colour, and force us further and further into oppression, creating new modern day minstrel shows for all to marvel at.
- They suck, because most of what they rap about is exaggerated to the fullest.
- They suck because everything in their music videoes are rented and probably need to be back at the rent-a-car, rent-a-ho, rent-a-chain, rent-a-house, and rent-a-cash pile places in less than 3 hours
- They suck, because without the "video vixens", no one would listen to their song, watch their video, or even know who they are
- They suck, because as opposed to say, 10 years ago, they don't 'rap' about anything past parties, stupid dance moves, women's bodies/sex, or something they want/have.
- They suck, because what they do is not called music. It's all fake computerized sucking, crappy, junk.
- They suck, because they objectify women to the max, they compartmentalize our bodies so that our worth lies in one portion of our bodies.
- They suck because most of their careers last no longer than 14 months.
- They suck because they're really broke. All of them.
- They suck because if they weren't rappers....where would they be? Do the majortiy of them have education..................???? Noooooo.
- They suck, sweety, because they suck. Maybe not all of them, but the VAST majority. I can probably name a handful of rap artists out there currently who aren't wasting time - Kanye - Common - Mos Def - Talib Kweli.............(the last two probably shouldn't even count, because they aren't mainstream enough).......???........Jay-Z is even pushing it.

Because rap is basically over. It started dying about ten years ago with the ushering in of people like puffy and master p. Businessmen/rappers if you will. Now we have garbage like soulja boy and mims all over radio. Hip hop(Nas, Tribe called Quest, Atmosphere) will live forever but rap is deader than a doornail.
Rap has been taken over by corporations. Now, it's mostly white business men and women choose who will be our mainstream rappers. They dilute rap with an overplayed bubblegum sound and a marketable overdone image. Goody goody gumdrops!
Although thats a personal opinion, I agree with you. Believe it or not, some rap used to be good. Now, rappers with seemingly random names comes out, rap about how much sex their getting , and how high they get, and disappear, all for a quick buck. I don't know if this constitutes as rap, but when Linkin Park was known as Hybrid Theory, they had reasonably decent stuff.

Because rap has no musical value what-so-ever! That has to be the worst trend music has ever seen. Just try and whistle ANY rap song... YOU CAN"T, because it's not music. If it were a real song you could whistle it without hyperventilating.

Rap is a means for people without talent to become famous, rich and idolized without the ability to do anything worthwhile.
People that listen to rap suck, too. Most of them idolize gangsters; what kind of a loser will look up to an uneducated jerk with no talent & no respect for others ?
All you have to do is work up a tremendous ego. Then "sing" about how you're the king/queen of the world. Then replace words with actual meaning with swear words. It's too easy to make.

To days rap is so sad I hate it! They can't dance in their videos and they do the same dance moves in every video. They try to look, sound and act all alike and I get sick to my stomach turn that no talent "tihs" (spelled backwards) off!
Their are many great rappers since '97. Maybe not on radio but buy a dmn album and listen to it. Mobb Deep came back.
Rappers and Rap sucks today because all of the best rap stuff came out in the 80's/90s after that it is like most other new type's of music such as punk, it goes into 'to put it loosely' an "underground" sort of situation where you can only hear the music LIVE! which in one way is how this type of music started. As they say it goes back to it's 'roots'. But in the case of rap "you've heard it all before".
