Is rap music dead? Will there ever be another good lyricist?!
Question: Admit it, rap is ******* horrible these days. Any popular song now is made up of 2 things, a good beat and a catchy hook, with the worst lyrics ever. Soulja boy, rich boy, dj unk, all that wack *** ****. have you ever listened to what their saying, its like a 4 year old wrote it.
I know that there are some good lyricists out there like Common, Kweli and probably some underground stuff, but man, what is the point of hip-hop radio stations?
I know that its not just that I am getting older (27) and not understanding the youth and just becoming an old, bitching man, because it is plain to see that this is garbage. When Jay, Big, Pac, and Nas came out, it wasn't like the old school rap fans (who were getting older) didn't like that stuff, they did because it was brilliant. Is there some kind of movement or something that we can require rappers to rap above a fourth grade level?

I was never into rap. Rap today is just a bunch of 1 hit wonders. One day they are the most popular artist in the world then they are yesterdays news.
Eazy, Tupac, Biggie, and big pun took it to the grave with them, all people ever talk about is money cars drugs and disrespecting women.I mean the legends used to do it too but atleast they were real about it 99pct of the time.
acutally lil wayne is one of the best lyricists out there along with eminem... rap isnt dead, you just have to know where to look, theres still talent out there. But i agree with you a lot of the rap today is rediculous like soulja boy and Dj unk and plenty of others, but there are a few exceptions to the rules

This same question is asked everyday and the answer is .Drum roll please NO.Rap has done the same up and down pattern since it was created pay attention to the trends its always going to rotate between real lyrics and dance music.For example for the 100 time late 80's early 90's we had hammer humty hump and ****.Mid 90's to early20's we had pac big bone thugs and others.This is music even rock country and pop do the same wave of B.S music to real music with meaning.Normally after a war we go back to real **** so give this dance fever 5 years max and its back to the real.
