What band made the biggest impact in rock history or some bands??!

Question: Anybody

Answers: Anybody

i see that a lot of responses have the beatles, led zeppelin, eric clapton, and the rolling stones as greatest influences. i must point out that they were all heavily influenced by american negro rhythm and blues, such as chuck berry among the many. the beatles were also influenced by buddy holly and the crickets, thus how they came to be known as the beatles in the first place

The Beatles

Guns N Roses..... Nirvana

Zeppelin, Sabbath, Doors, Beatles, Stones...etc etc.
There's kind of a lot.

The Beatles, Rolling Stones and U2!

Hey Linkin Park may seem .... not what you would think of but they help out a lot in all directions >:)

Linkin Park "i belive" redefined and are still redifining rock and music as a whole

the beatles.

this gets asked way too much.

Cannibal Corpse

The Widest Know Band Where I Live...

The Beatles, definitely
Led Zeppelin
Jimmy Eat World
Cobra Starship

i guess it really depends what you mean by impact

Three bands.
The Beatles
Led Zeppelin
Queen

They made the biggest impact on rock and changed it more than anyone else.

Tool

beatles stones nirvana sex pistols

It depends on the variety of rock.

Classic rock - Beatles

Hard Rock - Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones

Metal - Black Sabbath

Progressive - Yes, Pink Floyd

Elvis was a big contributer to everyone.

Dick Dale (invented the Twangy Guitar sound)
Beatles (biggest impact ever)
Steppenwolf (invented Heavy Metal)
Zepellin (invented the Power Ballad)
Sabbath (invented Grunge & Goth)
Traffic (first crossover between Jazz & Rock)
Doors & The Who (invented Smash Rock)

and - of course - Hendrix

What is everyone saying, I agree Led Zepplin and the Beatles had a huge impact, but where's Pink floyd on that list? The likes of queen don't have as much meaning towards a song as Pink floyd do. Just compare we will rock you, to a masterpiece such as Wish you were here. Also, if you have ever heard Comftorbly Numb by Pink Floyd, you see that there in that song they have the best guitar solo. Led Zepplin has to be in there because of the MASTERPIECE stairway to heaven, an unbelievable song. And beatles have the best way to show their effection to love unlike rappers who talk about girls asses and money. So the top three would HAVE to look like this:
1.Pink Floyd
2.Led Zepplin
3.Beatles

I think Evanescence had a big impact on music of TODAY. Amy Lee mixed together classical, metal, and many types of rock. I love their dark lyrics.

"Feels like the weight of the world. Like God in Heaven gave me a turn. Don't cling to me. I swear I can't fix you. Still in the dark? Can you fix me? Freefall. Freefall. All through life. If you love me. Then let go of me. I won't be held down by who I used to be. She's nothing to me." Weight of the World.

(what was the point of the lyrics? I'm bored.)

the rolling stones, nirvana and the Beatles

Frank Zappa is god

His work influenced the Beatles on Sgt Pepper (He in-turn said they "Were only in it for the money")

He also showed Jimi Hendrix the newly invented Wah Wah Pedal

i think floyd and zeppellin paved the way for what we know as great rock but my favorites are iron maiden judas priest and scorpions

without the ramones most of todays real ROCK bands wouldn't have known where to even start.

Beatles
Alice Cooper band (early on it was a band, then Alice solo)
Stones
The Who
Nirvana

Biggest Impact on Rock History: of course the Beatles and
Rolling Stones, Who. Great songs by the Doors and Lenard
Skinerd.

Wow. Neither the Velvet Underground or David Bowie have been mentioned, but Linkin Park and Evanescence have. I'm really starting to dislike some of the Y!Answerers.

Kurt Cobain killing himself was the single most influential moment to 'modern' rock music. If he had not done that, then Dave would still be sitting behind the drums playing crap and listening to Kurt whine while he wastes his life. But instead Dave was freed up to change the face of music.

He has given us Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Probot, Tenacious D, and has contributed to many other bands/artists/projects including Tony Iommi, Nine Inch Nails, and Neil Young among many many others...

Dave (and the Foo Fighters) brought music out of that pit of apathy that Dave himself helped to dig and showed the world that it was OK to actually enjoy music again. Both making it and listening to it.

hmm

rock :Elvis

progressive: Pink Floyd

Metal: Black Sabbath

although there are alot of bands the influnced rock through out history in theri own way, respect goes to them all
