Question: ok....i read somewhere that daft punk was in a studio explosion earlier in their career and they had to get surgery with chips put into their brains and to finish it off,they had to where the now popular robot outfits they always wear?

They said that at 9:00 a.m. on 9/9/1999, their sampler exploded in the studio and when they awoke they were part robot.
It's just a joke. As the person above said, they wear the helmets because they are shy. Before the helmets, they would wear other types of masks.
