What is a good beginning guitar?!

Question: I have a really old acoustic guitar and I've been wanting to play guitar. However, It really isn't the sound that I'm looking for. I'm going to be getting lessons from one of my friends and a real tutor. So, what is a good electric guitar for a beginner. I don't have a huge budget, but Christmas is coming up so that is good for me. I do not mind packs but they usually don't have the guitar that i want; anything BC Rich. So, what is a good electric, I don't mind packs. Also, what is the best BC rich guitar. (try to keep it under $300) I would probably get the amp and other accessories for Christmas. I would play hardcore, face melting rock, if that helps any.

lets see.. face melting guitars under 300$..

If you have the oppertunity to extend your budget some.. Id suggest trying

Ibanez SAs - theyre rock traditional guitars that range from 400-500$ depending on the vendor you buying from. with the right amp and strings it can do some serious damage.

Fendor Stratocasters (mexican made) because theyre cheaper 300-400$.. use these for more traditional rock like ac/dc etc.

BC Rich, um specifically I dont know the models off hand but I do have a friend who uses them. Theyre for more current rock and I know they make cheaper models that range from 250-300$ which wont sound right on cheap amps.

If you want price quotes on guitars, youd be better off searching the vendors websites and competetor online sites. If you wanna hear how they sound, take your own opinion by visiting a local guitar shop and play a few scales with models you like.

For an amp, Id suggest anything over 70 watts if you want heavy distortion and loud noises. I personally like Line 6 amps which have a lot of distortion features. Currently own a fendor 25R with 75 Watts which gets plenty of noise, but the distortion effects could be better. More of a Jazz amp I think.

I think the BC rich's are more than 300 bucks, I would get a squier or epiphone first

A first act guitar. I've had one for thirty seven years and it still hasent worn out

Don't buy a bc rich guitar. They're for losers. For less than $300, get a used epiphone les paul on craigslist. Some of them are made in America and can be really good guitars. They will rock much harder than a bc rich. Besides the only thing that matters is the pickups if you want, "face melting rock."
