What's your opinion on this...?!

Question: Well folks country music used to be our music, that good ole traditional country music. Bring back the honky tonkin cheating love songs, trucking songs, bluegrass songs, I got tiger by the tail songs, I wanna hear old dogs, children and water melon wine, red necks, white socks, and blue ribbon beer songs, and heartaches by the number. Webb Pierce singing "I'm walking The Dog" and Faron Young's "I Wanna Live Fast, Love Hard, and Die Young,"...Is this too much to ask for?
Now all the records sound the same. Country music has changed. Nashville now wants to reach the upper class of our society. The blue collar worker is no longer a part of country music anymore. The words to most songs don't make sense and the CD's'' are way too much. Come on America!, what's wrong with this picture?

Living in the Dallas area, I've given up on the, so called, country radio stations... Instead, I listen to an "Americana" station which plays a mix of Texas artists and Classic Country.

I can make it through the day more easily knowing that Merle and Ernest share the same station with Guy Clark and Max Stalling.

HUH!

"They" call it progress!!
I Miss "COUNTRY Radio" , someday maybe it will return!!!

(***IF PRO IS THE OPPOSITE OF CON, Aw, Hell You figure it out!!!!

They have taken the COUNTRY out of Country Music!
"There are three basic styles of current country music: Traditional, Mainstream and Contemporary (pop-country). Try looking at it like the American Political System—on the right are the Conservative Republicans (Traditional) , on the left are the Liberal Democrats (Contemporary/Pop-Country), and in the middle are the Moderates (Mainstream). Think of Alan Jackson as the George Bush of country music. Get the idea?"

Too many people have $ signs in their eyes these days. They dont care how it sounds but rather how much will it bring.

the FRAME on this PICTURE is laced with $$$$$$ SIGNS!
It's a down right SHAME! I FEEL YOUR PAIN MY FRIEND!
you know, when i'm visiting with some of my friends in the biz, 95% of them seem to think and still have HOPES of seeing this TURN AROUND someday...ME? well I JUST HOPE TO LIVE LONG ENOUGH TO HEAR MERLE HAGGARD'S
NAME ON "TODAY'S" RADIO AGAIN! you know what i don't understand either is why haven't any of these LEGENDS down in NASHVILLE ever took a stand? when i was working for PORTER back in 2001, we used to discuss this all the time and he had such GREAT IDEAS, but would chicken out when the time came to WALK THE WALK!..I JUST DON'T KNOW!

Remember that most of the people who are running the country music industry today grew up listening to 70s rock, which is why they're trying to tell us the Eagles and Lynyrd Skynyrd are "country."

apparently you don't listen to montgomery gentry!

We used to be able to turn the radio on anywhere in the Northern central valley of calif. all the way up to the Oregon border and get that Bakersfield sound. That is long gone. A friend told me it is because the stations have to pay so much per song every single time they play it in order to play them and that would put the stations out of business. Soooo again it is $ signs, keeping the great songs off the radio.

THE SO CALLED ARTISTS OF TODAY DO NOT CARE FOR QUALITY IT IS ALL ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY CAN BE MADE. WHEN WE FIND A STATION THAT PLAYS CLASSIC COUNTRY SUPPORT THAT STATION AND LET THE OTHERS FALL. DO NOT BUY THE NEW STUFF AND MAYBE JUST MAYBE THE MESSAGE WILL GET THROUGH TO THE POWERS THAT BE IN NASHVILLE. Iff we all stood together as fans the classics then there would not be much choice but to give us what we want. And I think we all agree that what we want is the true country music that we grew up on.

"The almighty dollar and the lust for worldwide fame
slowly killed tradition and for that someone should hang.
They all say not guilty, but the evidence will show,
that murder was committed down on music row."

Todays country music is the "soft pop" we listened to in the 70's(James Taylor,Jim Croce etc)
The true country fans see the progression and how the younger fans have influence air play.
Give me the 50's-60's 70's country sounds anyday.
