Is there any thing even remotely romantic about rap "music.?"?!

Question: Not counting the sexual references, the innuendos, the snickering, peurile , condescending commands to "Beyotch do di, beyotch do dat" lines.Maybe it's the overt violence that's considered romantic. I suspect there must be something there I'm missing.

Very strange phenomena, Rap! I never say Rap Music, because in my view, it isn't music. Not in the way that music is generally accepted, that is. I won't condemn it as rubbish, because that would be insulting the tastes of too many people. I force myself to remember Rock 'n' Roll, specifically the way it was greeted by grown-up people of the time. But it is difficult to think of anything 'nice' to say about Rap.
It's connections and overt connotations are more than a little worrying, and the artistes, if you can call them that, who perform Rap, are usually openly, and unashamedly, threatening and criminal. I also find the movements that go with Rap rather stilted and samey! As yon can gather, I'm not a fan!

Eazy E is romantic. If you give him some a** he will drive you home in his automobile. That's nice. I love him.

R&B yes, Rap No

Sunshine-Lupe Fiasco
Hey Lover-LL Cool J
Luv You Better-LL Cool J

Look those songs up.

No. There's not.

What's not romantic about getting supersoaked and supermanned? (OK, yeah, I know, Soulja Boy is a pop "artist" aimed at 11-year-olds, but the point is still valid.)

I bet every woman feels glad that she's described under the generic heading of "hoe" and gets to enjoy songs like this:

Yummy down on dat, beyotch.

PS - In case you missed it (someone did!), the first answerer is being sarcastic : )

no, and is rap meant to be romantic?
romantic rap stuff that, oh yeah punjabi by nature, he has some romantic rap but its more low key.
p-diddy- tell me?
there must b somewhere i guess

I like romance and romantic songs so I NEVER listen to rap.

if you listen to Underground and Old school rap

you'll find romantic songs....

Obviously you ONLY know what you HEAR and SEE on T.V.

their are plenty of romance rap song.

have you ever heard of the love in rap Cd's and if that doesn't do it for YOU then stick to the body and soul Cd's.

ll_cool_j and amerie have a song together called PARADISE. most ll_cool_j songs are romantic. any ja_rule and Ashanti song, fat_Joe and Ashanti song. ne-yo and fabolus (that's the actual spelling the rap artist prefers) song 'You make me better'. THE LIST GOES ON.

then if you think hard about it. rapping isn't easiest thing to do. just think about a man sitting and trying to string together words that rhyme to tell a women how he really FEELS ABOUT HER.

i really just think that YOUR just listening to the wrong rap music especially, if YOUR trying to find something romantic.

Who's to say what's romantic?
"Come Close" by Common and Mary J
"Love You Better" by LL
"The Light" by Common
"Hot Thing" by Talib
"Find a Way" by A Tribe Called Quest
"The Light" by Pharaohe Monch
"Never Been in Love Before" by Talib

You're obviously missing something. Different strokes for different folks.

There are plenty of Rap songs out there that are romantic, but you have to listen to the lyrics, and not just the beat.
1. Mary J and Method Man- Your all I need
2. LL's - I need love
3.Tupac's - Dear Mama
4.LL's - Love you Better

Maybe it isn't striaght out a love song, but if it's lyrics are soft, and they are being respectful it's love. Might not be lovey dovey, but it's there.

haha 'thugs need love too' =)

The focal point of hip hop is not love, the same thing can be said for rock and pop, therefore every song is not gonna be about love and heartbreak and whatnot. By the way misogyny is present in rap as is homophobia (but damn if i'm listening to deadlee talking about dicking some queer) but that's not always the case.

Most of these rappers who say that 'beyotch do di, beyotch do dat' stuff as you so quaintly put it, are just putting on an act to make some money, i doubt they go home and command their mothers and whatnot.

Plus hip hop songs that focus around love are some of the deepest love songs out there, and i'd rather listen to jay z cry like a man than see meatloaf sing some woe is me, i'm gonna go slit my wrists my girl just left me crap.

Depending on what you listen to, yes it can be romantic, but Hip Hop started off of the corner, why does it have to be romantic??

R & B is romantic I guess, but is Emo Music/Rock Music/Heavy Metal "music" romantic???

Ask yourself that before going to critcize Hip Hop.
