Does anyone remember the country artist Johnny Russell?!

Question: The big man was one funny guy and he was also a great songwriter. He wrote "Red Necks, White Socks, And Blue Ribbon Beer" as well as co-wrote "Act Naturally" which was recorded by Buck Owens and others. Johnny passed away some time ago from complications due to diabetes. He was a great entertainer.

Still at it I see!

"There's nowhere i rather be than right here,
with my REDNECK-WHITE SOCKS AND BLUE RIBBON BEER"!..he was a great song writer too, i think he wrote 'MAKING PLANS" for PORTER AND DOLLY!

yes

One of my favorite Johnny jokes was his telling of how his song "Act Naturally," made so much money off of it with Buck Owens, the Beatles, and "Tricky Dicky and the Impeachments" singing it. "If it wasn't for taxes and alimony," he'd conclude, "I'd be a rich little fat boy because of this song!" He was a great performer and a kind gentleman, and IMO the Opry sorely misses his talent.

BTW, Okie, both Kitty Wells and the Wilburn Brothers recorded "Making Plans" before Porter and Dolly did it. I don't think it was written specifically for them, although they did a very good rendition!
