My stepmom making me crazy playing the same thing over and over and over.

san antionio rose

I think of the man Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys then start recalling the great songs he recorded such as "Take Me Back To Tulsa' "Spanish Two Step" "Faded Love" "San Antonio Rose" "Across The Alley From The Alamo" "Corrine Corrina" "Ida Red" "Maidens Prayer' and a host of others. I also think of my friend Tagg Lambert who was a vocalist for Bob for many years before he took his own life. A very good question by the way and it brought back some memories.

"Faded Love"

He's one of the great band leaders of all time. I think you will see him get more and more popular in coming years, as the whole roots music scene gets bigger. I read somewhere that he used to sometimes arrange his string sections to mimic some of the aspects he liked in Ellington's horn section. It is a crying shame when you think about music like the Texas Playboys alongside of what passes for Country music these days. And I say that as a relatively young man.

The FIRST thing?.... Texas !!!!

The second is the stories my father told me of going to see him in Ft. Worth as often as he could get a ride from Denton.

The third... "A Tribute to Bob Wills" by Asleep at the Wheel... an album of the lesser known songs Wills wrote and performed... "Across the Alley from the Alamo"... "Little Redwing"... "Deep Waters" and many more from The King.

Greatest country swing in history,Texas household name.

Two of his trademark phrases

Aaaaaaaaaaaah Haw

Take it away Leon (or whoever was taking a fill)

San Antonio Rose and my Momma and Daddy dancin' in the kitchen!!

is still the king!

Some country guy comes to my mind.
