What I gather from the chorus, "somebody told me that you had a boyfriend who looked like a girlfriend", is it's referring perhaps to someone he's dated who now is a lesbian; I saw an interview with the lead singer not too long ago and he said he was inspired by the Las Vegas strip, where he's from.
