It all went down hill when the Statler Bros. retired

Keeth Erban and all those other pop singers.

Seriously--with the "invention of the internet by algore came the introduction of the music video. All of the ugly people that could really sing got shoved off the internet and MTV and whatever and the new crew of "dem purdy folks" came along.

The Oak Ridge boys, Statlers, gatlins, none were truly pretty people...But man could they sing.

Think about it this way, would you buy tickets to see the drew carey trio sing about their truck breaking down?

It is on the classic country station. I guess people went retro and stopped playing it for their children. I insist my children listen to it whether they want to or not!

Birdogs

said it all!

Absolutely bang on the money with that answer, I can't top it.

It was also "Murdered on Music Row"

Little Big Town has harmony ...CAn they bringit back to life ???

It's still alive and well -but- in general, you won't find it within today's Nashville "cookie-cutter" "pop" songs.

Alive and well.........well where then?

Listen to any of a number of artists that still perform contemporary bluegrass music.

Allison Kraus, Patty Loveless, and the best kept "secret" in C&W....Rhonda Vincent. they and many others that are not, or no longer, "household names" are still singing great harmony.

If 'ya roll the clock back a bit, don't forget Alabama -and- I agree with other respondents with regard to the Statler/Gatlin Bros. and other harmony-based singing groups of yesteryear !!

That's the stuff than gave you goose bumps....probably the best harmony by a duet was Vince Gill and Patty Loveless. Nobody Answers When I call your name. Statlers, Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama and lets not forget " Diamond Rio "....
