Moon Mullican is one of three country greats who died on New Year's Day. The other two are Hank Williams (1953) and Del Reeves (this year). If you count him as strictly country, you can add Townes Van Zandt (died 1-1-97) to the list. Only Reeves (who had emphysema) did not die of a heart attack.
IMO, Moon's version of "Sweeter Than the Flowers" is his best song. It's on my 100 favorites list.
