There are many. One that really inspires me with ALL of her songs is Martina McBride. It's not just a song or two here and there. It's all her songs. They have such meaning and I believe are geared twards women. She is great.
Bob Dylan is great but I would not consider him country. He was a wonderful poet and his song was more folks overall. For country try......
Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Johnny Cash is a nice older style, Lylle Lovett is like the Bob Dylan of country and writes beautiful lyrics. Keith Urban. I'll edit after I look at my list for you.
There are also some lesser known artists that are great songwriters but don't get much air play.
Nanci Griffith is awesome including some of the duos she has done with Darius Rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish. Give her a try for shore.
Look for Pat Green. Jerry Jeff Walker, Guy Clark and Radney Foster. Yes it RaDney as is Rad-knee.
