First Electric Guitar?!
Question: I've been playing on an Epiphone acoustic for 2 years now and want an electric. I am looking for something in the $200-$300 price range. I will not be paying so I want the best guitar I can get for that price range. I am open to suggestions but am looking at a Les Paul and a Stratocaster. I am not looking for low end bargain deals... Thank You!

The Les paul is a really good guitar... it has a really good distoted sound...
if you're looking for a cleaner sound, go for the Stratocaster
If you can find a real Les Paul for under $300 then buy it.
Not looking for low end bargain deal for a Les Paul and/or Stratocaster with the budget of $ 200 - $ 300?
I think it is impossible. This money can buy only a copy LP or Strat from Japan.
Les Paul Studio cost more than $ 800
Stratocaster US Standard ( you dont want low end .. mexico made is a low end ) cost more than $700
From your budget of $ 200 - $ 300
You'd better go for Epiphone Les Paul or Squire Strat, both are low end guitar.
Save up ! to get a Gibson Les Paul. It is a very good guitar for every kind of music. Jazz ---> Metal !! A+++++ Quality !!
epiphone is decent. i would recommend an esp schecter or ibanez for that price range.
