This band toured with The Beatles on one of their US tours ...?!

Question: John Lennon provided the band's name.
Who are they and what was their most famous hit song (#2 in US)?

The Cyrkle - Red Rubber Ball

without doing any research the only band I could come up with is Badfinger. They were touted as the next Beatles. Released albums on the Beatles Apple Records. Had George Martin as producer.

I think it was Tommy James and the Shondells. The Beatles stopped touring in 66 (Badfinger were slightly later 1968). oops they toured with the Stones I think.
They turned down the chance to play Woodstock as their agent said it would be a career killer. Wrong decision lol.
Maybe it was the McCoys who toured with the Beatles. Hang on Sloopy was their hit.
Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers and Sounds Inc. also toured with the Beatles. A year would be helpful lol

The Remains
Moving on

That would be 'The Remains'. They toured the US with The Beatles in 1966. Their song was 'Why Do I Cry' (pretty sure anyway) or It could also be 'Don't Look Back'.
I still have the original pressing of their two albums, along with a few singles and one EP that features You Got a Hard Time Coming/ Say You're Sorry/ Don't Look Back/ Diddy Wah Diddi. Great band!

I saw both of the Beatles shows in the summer of 1965 in Toronto. Still have my stubs, and they cost a whopping $5.00!

Betcha didn't know that their drummer became the original drummer for 'Mountain' before Canadian Corky Lang took over! His name was N.D. Smart.

I remember watching this on TV:

The Remains opened for the Rolling Stones the previous year as well if I recall.
