I think you are extremely lucky to be able to re-live those memories. You are right, they are priceless. "Treasure" was a perfect word to use.

as for the first poster, What exactly does one gain from being rude? I just don't get it..never will.

Okie, you have a real treasure. Nashville Network used to show some of the old clips and I soaked it all in. BTW, Ralph Emery looked pretty good last nite.
Millers Cave, I'm putting my bifocals on and coming over!!!!

great idea, i got alot of those tucked away in the basement, i'm goin to look them up now, i know there must be some country stuff on them, thanks. you've got some treasures there girl!

Your making me jealouse OKIE. I,m searching the internet for a way to purchase the CMA's from the past.

yeah, I have a library of classic TV shows like, Porter, Nashville on the Road, (With Little Wendy Holcombe) (remember her), The Del Reeves Show, The Wilburn Bros.,
Pop goes the Country, Hee Haw, etc.
Oh, yeah, and Hullabaloo!!!

(I watch 'em all the time)

Somewhere I got one show on tape where Reba won an award. ( forgot which award ) She held the award up high and said something in affect, "This one is for my buddies". (Referring to the tragic plane crash) That there even chocked me up.

I am like the Caveman. I have some Wilburn Brothers,Porter Wagoner,Pop Goes The Country, Nashville Now, Del Reeves, Nashville On The Road and a few Billy Walker but I don't have any with the awards on them. I recorded them off of The Outlaw Channel some 8-10 years ago. That is a great thing to have Okie and as you said priceless.

I do have a lot of old tapes from TNN, music videos and live shows. I like some of the new but I do mainly like the older stuff. My roots go back aways, so I guess that is natural.

The Awards last night was an absolute disgrace to the REAL COUNTRY LEGANDS.
I'm sure Roy Acuff turned over in his grave when all of those jumping and screaming kids banging on a guitar running across the stage and yelling what they called country music. You could not even understand what they were saying.

Another insult was to Vince Gill, Reba and all of the others that so graciously carried the title of MC.

You would never see a MC out on the stage without shaving his face and wearing a suit.

I suggest that if the so called authorities that put this thing together schedule another event and let kids do their thing.

Then do an Awards show with the stars like, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Marty Stuart, Connie Smith, Bill Anderson. George Strait, Alan Jackson asnd on and on.

Better quit before I get bumped off of this site. LOL
A die hard music fan.

RFD TV airs classic TV shows like "The Porter Wagoner Show" and "The Wilburn Brothers Show." They also air classic concerts and TV specials (this week was a tribute to Chet Atkins from 1980). During the shows they air commercials for DVDs of the live performances on old awards shows. We need those archived so future generations can know what real country music WAS. (BTW, did you know the first CMA awards show was NOT televised, and the second CMA show was taped and aired later?)

I got a mess of stuff, compared to yours, mine is not worth mentioning.

I stopped watching the CMA when they brought Elton John on. Not that I dislike Elton's music, he just has no business on CMA. Plus, it's all going to this new wave stuff. I'll stick with my oldies, oldies like me. I wish I had some of those old copies Okie. I only spent two years in the states after Vietnam and then was overseas almost continuous (all the Reagan years) until the mid 90's. Missed alot of TV during those years.

thanks some one who really enjoys real country music Id love to see the tape of marty winning his hall induction. I love the old classics

1 question! Can I bring the popcorn and beer for a video night at your house!!????? PLEASE???????

You have an heirloom to pass on to your relatives Okie.

As for proudpre: Go find another site to b*tch about. If you don't like country music DO NOT answer the questions. God knows there are plenty of other q/a sections where your little mindless comments would be welcome.

Can I take a nap now....classic country music is so boring!
