Answers: What does it take to break into the music industry and survive the competition? I do believe I have the talent and skills to become a singer. I just need a little direction, which I'm sure I can find here.

1. First, get a vocal coach. The will help you with singing and being able to read music. Being on pitch and having the correct tone is only one aspect of singing. There is diction, emotion, performance (in front of an audience, technical usage such as mics), timbre, vibrato, breath support and rhythm.

2. Make a demo tape. Most establishments want to hear what you have to offer. Present yourself in a positive manner to improve your chances of being considered by managers and producers.

3. Lastly, decide if you want an agent, or if you would like to represent yourself to potential clients. There are advantages to both. An agent can find you singing jobs, but takes part of your pay. As a freelance singer, you may choose the venues you would like to perform in and will not owe a percentage to an agent.

Depends on where you live and who you know. Put some of your music on MySpace too. It's a GREAT place to network and meet lots of people.

Hire an agent, or join a talent agency. Most kids don't get discovered out of the blue.

Make yourself known. Perform at live public venues, school productions (depending on your age), charity events, etc.

But first, you may want to refine your singing skills and hire a singing teacher to guide you. The worst case scenario is that you think you're a great singer, but most people think otherwise.

Best of luck!

If you can, get some professional training to give you the proper feedback from someone who will give you an honest assessment.
