Would country fans tolerate a gay country singer.?!

Question: (I'm not talking about Gary's Rascal Flatts)

Answers: (I'm not talking about Gary's Rascal Flatts)

Are you kidding!! No way!

I would. Don't know about others.

Not Jamaica for sure

clay aiken sings country now?

canada

HELL F****** NO!!!!!!!!!!!

Some would, but a significant segment would not.

Make him an outspoken atheist too, just to really kill the old career.

i think as long as it's kept AT HOME BEHIND CLOSED DOORS...YES! now the LITTLE RASCAL'S...all over the place. in your face...NO!...OH, I FORGOT, THEY ARE NOT COUNTRY ANYWAYS...CARRY ON.

I'm not a huge country music fan but I do like it occasionally. It wouldn't bother me at all...if they have a good voice and a catchy song, I think that's all that counts! I would definitely listen to their music.

Yeah , I'm not sure if the country folk would accept him.

Well it depends. Is it someone who is openly gay? Even that may not be a problem. Now if they are a songwriter as well and all they do is sing about being gay and relations with their male lover then no most fans wouldn't tolerate it. Also sick to my stomach thought, imagine the video. Yeah I don't want to see a couple making out when they are straight, but a gay one would be worse. Seriously I don't care if a good singer is straight or gay. I don't shut off Elton John's music when it comes on. I don't buy his music, but if he did a song I wanted to listen to I would keep on listening to it.

Yes, I believe todays country would. They would accept him/her in with open arms. Homosexuality has been embraced in this country as if they're was nothing wrong with being gay.But if it were back in the 70's and 80's...No.

Oh, and could you imagine if Kenny Chesney were gay. That would change the whole outlook on his songs..wouldnt it? Girls wouldnt be seen in the front rows of his concerts anymore, just a bunch of young boys jumping up and down crying out his name...LOL

I wouldn't, but that's me personally and as far as for the rest of the country is concerned I don't think that they will either.

I wouldn't make broad generalizations about country fans, but I'm sure a gay country singer would sell tons of records because controversy sells music really well.

I cant speak for all good 'ole county lovers, but It wouldn't matter to me. Just depends what the songs about, The singers voice and how he performs. Not all country songs or singers are tolerable.

I think as long as it wasnt a flaunted thing it may be ok....country music and its musicians/singers are not "out there" type people. Fans do not want a person who rides a float in San Frans gay parade, but someone who keeps their personal life private....we like people who dont shove their agenda down out throats.....

What's there to tolerate? is something bad about being gay?

i would not.

i second that okiefan 1000%.

the gay community would cuz of brokeback mountain and the true visibility that the gay communities everywhere are basically havin' their own niches as well...but in the evangelical republica of the united states...hmmm, that might be a tuffie cuz yer' talkin' about some perty conservative folks that downright wouldn't want a country singer comin' out on stage with just a pair of chaps on with no jeans beneath and a cowboy hat with rainbow striping around the rim...i mean, instead of achey breaky heart, it would be achey breakie butt...then again, wynonna judd is a big gay country icon in many communities, patsy cline, johnny cash...a lot of gays love 'em...oh, a lot o' gay boys love the sounds of carrie underwood...who knows? i mean...i wish it could be acceptance as opposed to tolerance. and the word gay means to be merry and happy...being gay is good...then again a rainbowed geeeetaarr on stage with guys in speedos and a cowboy hat in the background with pantless chaps and a fog machine could be a bit much at times...but then again, acheybreakyheart was straight and it was awful! oh, man, the ultradupermulletmadness on that man...geesh! go gays! go country!

Someone answered 'rednecks hate fags' Well, let me tell you, I'm a 'redneck' and I really don't care one way or another whether an artist is gay or not. What effect does it have on me or their singing ability? What about K.D. Lang? Gay and a great singer. Who cares except someone who is narrow-minded and we don't need that kind listening to our Country music!!!

maybe some people could, but not me. gay means happy, sodomy is sick, lets get it straight.

Yes. You kinda already put my answer though. I think they would tolerate it just fine. I would. Talent is talent.

like anything else, some would and some wouldn't.
i think gay guitar pickers are great.........

Personally, I wouldn't care. As long as the person is a good singer, why should I worry about his or her lifestyle? It would be like someone avoiding shows like Grey's Anatomy or How I Met Your Mother, just because some of the actors are gay.

Well, given the popularity of Kenny Chesney, I would say yes.
