it was about her mom leaving her when she was a child and now she is grown up and if her mom were to come back to nc, she won't be there cuz she is in tennessee...
Her mom gave up her parental rights when she was 2, and her dad has been in and out of jail for most of her life. I would imagine it was so emotional because it was so personal to her. Here she is up on a big country music awards show singing her heart out after coming from a small town in North Carolina, you know?
In the song, Pickler says that her mom only gave her one thing-her brown eyes. That is a powerful indictment of parents who fail to do squat for their kids. If the only thing that you give a child is something genetic, you're not really a parent, in my book.
