Easy guitar tab question?!
Question: I have a Dean ZX guitar. I've been teaching myself songs. Learning new things as i go. I had a question about TABS and how exactly to read them. I know about 3 meaning 3rd fret and all of that jazz but i was wondering about the spaces in between the number.
Say this is the guitar tab i'm reading

D||------4--------------|-------------...
A||---------------------|-------------...
E||---------------------|-------------...
Why are they spaced out. Does that just mean i have to pause .. or what. Sounds like a stupid question but i'm just learning so any thoughts would be helpful.

It all really depends on what sounds best. If it is an actual piece of music, with availiable videos etc then try to play along to that.
Software such as guitar pro or powertabs are good for playing music on, as you can play the actual tabs aswell as playing your own.
They're spaced out because you're striking that single note..instead of strumming a whole chord, you're picking the individual notes which gives you the melody. Listen to the song and follow the notes, you'll get the hang of it.
It is to roughly help you with the rhythm, it is not 100% reliable so just play along to find out the rythem. Once you have been reading tabs for a while you'll see how odd it is when you see a slow song with no spaces.
