RELATIVITY.

it's why we choose the forms of expression that we do.. We like what we can relate to. (atleast I do)

THE WAY IT MAKES YOU FEEL.

understood.. again, that's hand in hand with relativity.

Can we be mad at people who knock hip-hop? We can, sure.. but truth be told.. They don't like it cause they DON'T GET IT.

could've added a thousand and one reasons why, but I figured I'd make it simple.. Music unites us, as a 'people', and helps us cross communiation barriers. I LOVE IT.. Keep keep on! Report It

  • "original styles like lil wayne"??
    hahahahahahahahahahaha

    CUZ IT SOUNDS TIGHT!

The only 3 I can think of are Girls, girls and more barely dressed girls.

Why do I love rap and hip-hop:

    - It's ability to bring to my speakers, and imagination, a world that I might have otherwise never know about (at least not from the perspective of someone living in it). Incidentally, the positive, often overlooked culture that hip hop has helped develop.

    - The poetic value, and flow, of artists, reminiscent of some great spoken word performances.

    - The lyrical value/content which kind of relates to the two prior points.

-The characters that the genre has birthed, or given 'recognition to', such as Afrika Bambaataa, Andre 3000 and to a lesser degree Kanye West (love him or hate him, he IS a character)

    - The production value of a number of artists/producers, for example, RZA. The sampling of older tracks and the ability to make music such as funk accessible to a new, younger audience.

    - The main reason. It's fun, energetic and sometime thought provoking...but I just enjoy it, like I do most good music.

...now, I'm just going to take a walk over to my pretentious chair.

Rap and hip hop are the voices for the street and hood. People that don't live in the hood or come from the streets always wonder what that life is like.

The reasons I love HIP HOP, is because 1 it is ME, and I am it.

Second because of the beats, regaurdless if they are mostly samples.

Third because it's a culture, and all people should love their culture. It's just that simple.

last but not least, because it's consistant and it's never once let me down.

You just said it. I would have to disagree with you on "The Fun songs like ay bay bay and crank dat" More like the annoying songs.
Definately have to say I enjoy it because of people like Jayz, Nas, Kanye West, Eminem & of course Lil Wayne. I love the beats, man I love beats it's the essense to the music. The lyrical battles even when sometimes they diss on other rappers it's still so dope. The metaphors, like Jayz spits, that make you think and help you play a story in your head. I JUST LOVE HIP HOP!!!! But Nas is right, it's drying and we need to bring it back to how it use to be!

I dunno,it just sort of clicks with me.Maybe it's the beats, maybe it's the rapping style, maybe because we have talented rappers like Dr Dre,Snoop Dogg,Ice Cube,Tupac,Biggie,Eminem, etc.

For the record,I hate Ay Bay Bay since it dosen't make sense.Crank Dat's ok,but it gets stupid.

I don't think Kanye is a skillful rapper.Sometimes his lyrics make absolutely no sense.

    I am hip hop.
Hip hop is a culture. Hip hop is not Soulja Boy. That is garbage. The term Hip is an Norther East Coast term. Any artist past Maryland is not hip hop. Hip is Busta Rymes, Mobb Deep. Nas, Jay - Z, The locks, Cormega, Nature, AZ, Biggie, All ny Artist. I'm on my New York, ****. If you are in Montana or Nebraska or live in the burbs please, this is not for you. Just being real.

skillful lyrics like kanye west, lol. are you serious?
