How to create bass sounds (as in hip hop, not the instrument)?!

Question: I was wondering how rap artists and producers of Bass Cds produced that bass sound that rattles subwoofers. Basically, I like bass and would like to make it myself. I have read about the Roland 808 that was used in earlier bass records, but from what I've read, the Roland 808 is just a simple drum machine, and by now I'm sure there are more advanced options out these days for creating the sound. For someone just starting out, whats the easiest and cheapest way to start making bass? Thanks!

Its all synthesizers. So Roland, Korg, all of those are brands of synthesizers. Then they use a mixer to bring the register down really low. Its pretty simple, and while producers in the studio use really expensive fancy equipment, you could do it all with some pawn shop finds and some good recording software on your computer.

At this time I think they use mixers, and synthesizers, and keyboards to do all that stuff, but you could easily make those sounds with a bass guitar depending how good you were. There are lots of ways to do that.

Its electronically made with such programs as FL Studio

get your hands on a moog or a mini moog. its a synth but you can add crazy low-ends on every note, even through the melody. it has that warm and crisp analog sound to it as well. digital basses are so trite and has a generic sound.
