Live question for ya?!
Question: All of their previous albums had songs written by Ed and other band members. Black Mountain is written by Ed only, and the sound is different. Any idea why the changed happened?

I like Songs From Black Mountain, but I think it's mostly because I like Live so much. My first impression on hearing the album was that they were going for more 'soft rock" radio play and were maybe trying to get some of their stuff on TV (teen dramas, etc.).
There are a couple of songs that I really like on the LP (Sophia), but there are some that i think are a little fluffy.. like the first one.... The River?
I tend to think that Ed is the romantic of the band and that shows through on Black Mountain. Further, the guys are aging like the rest of us and the rebellion of youth tends to fade... think about it.. the song "Heaven"- Ed's a happy, fulfilled guy.. no longer questioning God and truth.. know what I mean?
Don't know about you, but i think my fave is still Samahdi.. followed by V and Mental Jewelry.
People and bands decide to change things up which could be a reason that the change happened........other than that I don't have a clue.
