Randy Holden's solo stuff???!

Question: I know he was in Blue Cheer for a while(New, Improved is the only album I've got with him on it...Did he make any other records with them?)...I have an old cassette of an album he did called "Randy Holden Population 2". There's a great Mandrax(spelling?) soaked version of "Fruit and Icebergs" on there, which is a version of one of the tracks on "New, Improved"....

'New Improved' was the only album Randy did with Blue Cheer. Prior to that Randy was with a cool psych band called 'The Other Half', and they released one self titled album in 1968. Before that he was with 'The Sons of Adam', but they only released a few 45's in 1966, that were reissued as an EP in 1980.
I've always enjoyed his 'Population 2' album as well, great stuff indeed. If you like that sort of music, try checking out other Blue Cheer related bands like 'KAK', and 'Silver Metre'. Leigh Stephens solo album 'Red Weather' was pretty cool, but avoid his 2nd solo effort, 'And a Cast of Thousands'.

Edit - Here is the Silver Metre album. It really had some great music on it. Compromising Situation, and Naughty Lady were cool. Gang Bang was good too, and it contained the typical drum solo of the day (performed by Micky Waller of Jeff Beck fame). Cocklewood Monster was another good track. What I didn't like was 'Superstar'. It's essentially a lame reworking of the song from Jesus Christ Superstar (Andrew Lloyd Webber & Time Rice). Other than that it's a nice slice of hard rock from 1970:

You can download the album at one of the blogs I pasted in this answer. I'm not sure which blog though. You'll have to do some digging! The question has gone into voting, and I'm answer # 8.

Yes, Chunga IS a Classic Rock Trivia God! I have heard OF that album. But I have never actually seen it. Bet it's good though.
