Making a band, need help with getting people?!
Question: Im making a band, it is going to be strait up metal/thrash/screamo, and not a single person I know is good with a guitar or drums. I plan on getting better at guitar in the future, but for now I am just the vocalist. Can anyone recommend where I can find good band members or people to manage the equipment? I am only 13 so I can't just go up to random people playing guitar and say 'Hey my parents are gone, wanna come over and make a band?' So I figured to do a little research, and not a single person in the Middle School or the 9th grade are any good with the guitar, but one of my friends is good with the drums, but I can never get a hold of him, and it is seemingly impossible to plan a time with him cuz after school he is gone. In 10th grade and up I know there area few people that play guitar but they won't want to join a band with some 8th grader.

im in a band and this is what i did.
my friends and i were talking because 1 of them got a guitar and we dicided to start a band. i looked around on ebay and stuff and i finaly found a guitar, one of mu other friends looked around and found a bass guitar. then we just started kinda foling around with music. i had no idea how to play and i couldnt afford lessons so i went to www.ultimate-guitar.com and started trying to play some of the songs that i know. i played the easyest things i could think of and eventually i got better, just by trying and setting my mind to it. now im a really good guitarist. after us 3 got better we started looking for a vocalist and a drummer. we found a drummer in the schools band and the kid was amazing!!! and our vocalist now is our old second guitarist because we found some one who could play guitar better then him. so we have t all sorted out. im going on 17 years old. i started playing around the same time you did. and i had no idea what i was doing!!! if you really want to start a band you need to set your mind to it. tell your self that you can doi it! find a friend that is interested in playing guitar, and have him buy a cheepy guitar from walmart or ebay or somthing. do some research on yahoo or google. you can find step by step instructions to learn to play on youtube. if you set your mind to it and be pacient im sure your band will take off!!!

maybe ask them anyway. Me and my friend want to start a band but the major problemo is that we don't have an instrument! lol! my friend is a good singer and i've tried to con my parentals into letting me do guitar lessons, no such luck yet, but hey. anyway, maybe see if anyone else wants to form a band or people with similar interests to see if they showed any promise in an instrument or something. Keep trying, I'm sure you'll get there. Good music choice, and good luck!
